WVA 2024-25 Vaccine Assessment Grid

The Washington Vaccine Association’s (WVA) 2024-25 Vaccine Assessment Grid(“Grid”) has been finalized and posted to the WVA’s website in both PDF and Excel format. The 2024-25 Grid lists vaccines and immunizations and their corresponding CPT codes that are part of the dosage-based assessment (DBA) process. All providers, health insurance carriers, and third-party administrators (TPAs) should complete the DBA each time a CVP product is administered to a commercial/private insured child. In effect, the Grid is the equivalent to a fee schedule. The 2024-25 Grid amounts are increasing from the current 2023-24 Grid amounts. Additionally, there are both new CPT codes and NDC changes in addition to the Grid amounts. The new Grid amounts apply to all listed vaccines and immunizations for dates of service after July 1, 2024, and adjudication fee schedules should be updated, accordingly.

School Immunization Data Dashboard Now Live

On June 12, 2024, DOH published an updated data dashboard on school immunization reporting. Each year, countless school and state staff work diligently to capture this information reflecting the health of Washington state.

School-level immunization data is available for download by school building and district. Following our small-numbers guidance, we suppress school-level vaccination data for school cohorts with 10 or fewer kids when sharing data.

Overall, school immunization rates for the 2023-24 school year have remained flat compared to the 2022-23 school year. There are still significant vaccination gaps in different parts of the state. It remains important for families to keep their children up to date on vaccines as they prepare for the next school year.

If you have questions about the updated dashboard, please email the data request inbox at WAIISDataRequests@doh.wa.gov

Incorrect Administration of Adult RSV Vaccines to Young Children

Incorrect Administration of Adult RSV Vaccines to Young Children was recently published in the journal Pediatrics. There were 34 reports of adult RSV vaccines given mistakenly to children younger than age 2 years. Neither RSV vaccine (Arexvy by GSK or Abrysvo by Pfizer) is approved for use in young children. These findings highlight the importance of staff training to prevent the administration of incorrect vaccines. To prepare for the upcoming RSV season, please ensure training and resources are available for staff.

Helpful Hints

When recording temperature measurements on your Temperature Monitoring Logs, remember to include the negative sign for any temperatures below 0 to avoid additional follow-up.

Another tip to avoiding follow-up is to make your temperature measurements as accurate and detailed as possible. Include a decimal point and values to the tenths or hundredths place if possible! This is especially helpful if your unit maintains consistent temperatures day to day.
