National Minority Health Month
April is National Minority Health Month. This annual observance builds awareness about the health disparities among racial and ethnic minority and American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) populations and encourages everyone to learn about and take action to end these inequities.
The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) is working to address inequities in several ways, including Community Collaboratives, developing Health Equity Zones, building Rural Equity Advisory Teams, working to reduce environmental and health disparities, and more. Below are some resources to assist you in finding DOH resources and more information about developing your own outreach programs.
