Good morning AVP partners,
This order cycle we received a large number of vaccine requests for our Adult Vaccine Program. Vaccine requests totaled well over $1,700,000, compared to our budget of $500,000. For this reason, we reduced orders based on providers' current AVP inventory and past administration and wastage data. We will continue to seek out additional funding opportunities to support vaccine purchase for the Adult Vaccine Program.
Orders have been placed and providers will receive their orders in one shipment in early April (barring any unexpected delays). You can see your facility’s updated order quantity for each vaccine type in the IIS.
Please remember that when your order arrives, you must also receive the doses into your inventory in the IIS. Refer to page 5 of this document for instructions on how to do this. You will notice that all vaccines received through the AVP will have the ADU- modifier added to the lot number, so you will no longer need to take the step to add it manually.
Thank you for your participation in the Adult Vaccine Program! We very much appreciate all that you do!
- AVP provides vaccine to participating provider locations for uninsured adults 19 years of age and older.
- Medicare, no matter the plan type, is considered insurance and individuals with Medicare are not eligible to receive AVP vaccine.
- The HHS Bridge Access program, which is administered through the AVP, provides COVID-19 vaccine for adults 19 years and older and can be administered to both un/under-insured patients. Underinsured is defined as individuals without cost-free coverage for COVID-19 vaccines at an in-network provider.
- Medicare Part B covers COVID-19 vaccines without cost sharing for consumers. This includes Medicare Advantage plans. Medicare patients are not considered un- or under-insured for the COVID-19 vaccine and therefore do not qualify to receive it through AVP.
- Please see this document for more details around COVID-19 vaccine coverage
More information around AVP eligibility can be found here.
Demand for publicly supplied adult vaccine doses is high. Providers with surplus AVP vaccine that cannot be used should advertise adult vaccines they cannot use on the Vaccine Advertisement Screen in the IIS.
Providers who need AVP vaccine can search the Vaccine Advertisement Screen for available doses. To request advertised vaccines, contact the provider listed and ask them to initiate a vaccine transfer request in the IIS.
Please note, you will still need approval prior to transferring vaccine. Complete a vaccine transfer request in the IIS at least 48 hours before each intended movement of vaccine. Vaccine cannot be moved prior to Transfer Request approval from DOH
For more details, please see our guide How to Search for and Advertise Vaccines for Transfer.
