New WIC Shopping Guides
Canned Fruits and Vegetables
Joining fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables, qualifying canned fruit and vegetable (F & V) items are now available for WIC participants to purchase using their Cash Value Benefits (CVB).
Since approving canned fruits and vegetables in October 2023, we have since added an additional 487 items to the Approved Product List (APL).
If a canned fruit or vegetable is not ringing up as WIC approved in your store and you think it should be, you may either:
- Email WaWICFoods@doh.wa.gov,
- Contact your POS provider to verify the most current version of the WIC Approved Products List (APL) has been uploaded to your POS system, or
- Use the “I couldn’t buy this” feature of the WICShopper mobile app to let the WA WIC Foods team know.
To ensure POS systems allow all authorized WIC products to be purchased, the APL must be uploaded frequently, if not nightly to register any WIC foods which have been added or removed. A complete list of Washington WIC foods (APL) can be found on our website at https://view.officeapps.live.com/op/view.aspx?src=https%3A%2F%2Fdoh.wa.gov%2Fsites%2Fdefault%2Ffiles%2F2022-02%2F962-975-WICVendorAuthorizedProductList.xlsx&wdOrigin=BROWSELINK.

WIC Clinic Locations
There are over 200 WIC Clinics in Washington State. Knowing where your local clinic is and how to contact them can be helpful to your store and WIC customers. If you have an abundance of a particular formula, for example, you can share that with your local WIC clinic, so WIC participants are able to find a formula they need. Click on the picture to access the map or use the WICShopper app to locate your local clinic.
Your store could promote WIC by ordering Free WIC outreach flyers and posters online at http://www.withinreachwa.org/product-category/wic-the-nutrition-program-for-women-infants-children/ and posting these for potential WIC participants.
