HPV Forecast Updated in IIS

On January 20th, 2023, the Washington State Immunization Information System (IIS) updated the human papillomavirus (HPV) forecast to start at age nine. This change signals an important step in increasing HPV vaccination coverage across the state of Washington.

IIS Resource:
This guide gives a visual representation of how this change is presented in the IIS. There are no major differences in the IIS from a user and technical perspective other than the age of the vaccine forecast has changed to nine. HPV vaccines do not need to be entered differently into the IIS than before this forecast update.

To assist in your efforts to implement changes needed to start routinely vaccinating at age nine, please use the provided list of resources.

Multiple IM Vaccine Administration Guide for Adults

Immunize.org updated their helpful guide “How to Administer Multiple Intramuscular Vaccines to Adults During One Visit” with diagrams showing options for administering multiple vaccinations in the deltoid or thigh muscle. A companion guide, “How to Administer Intramuscular and Subcutaneous Vaccine Injections to Adults” is another useful resource from Immunize.org.
