HPV Forecast Updated to Recommend Dose 1 at Age 9

On January 20, 2023 the Washington State Immunization Information System (IIS) will update its guidance to reflect the recommendation to administer Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine starting at age nine. The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommends routine HPV vaccination starting at age 11 or 12 years but notes that HPV vaccination may be given starting at age nine. Starting the HPV vaccination series at age nine is recommended by the American Cancer Society, American Academy of Pediatrics, Washington State Vaccine Advisory Committee, and the Washington State Department of Health (DOH). Please click here to read more about this change to the HPV recommendation and the IIS forecast.

For questions about the immunization schedule, the Immunization Information System forecast, or any other immunization clinical questions, please send an email to ImmuneNurses@doh.wa.gov. Check out the Immunization Training web page for more resources and training opportunities.

Helpful Hints

Need to Update Your Provider Agreement?

If you need to make updates to your Childhood Vaccine Program provider agreement, please request it be returned to you in the IIS for updates. You only need to add a new provider agreement in the IIS if your clinic name, clinic address, or signatory changes or during the annual renewal period which is March-April every year. For any other updates throughout the year, please DO NOT add a new agreement, but rather request your current agreement be returned for updates.
