To Participating WA Department of Health (DOH) Childhood Vaccine Program (CVP) Providers,
On November 3, 2022, the Washington Vaccine Association’s (WVA) Board of Directors approved an update to the 2022-23 Vaccine Assessment Grid (“Grid”) effective January 1, 2023, which was also approved by the WVA’s Operations Committee on October 27, 2022.
The update to the Grid includes the addition of two, new vaccines:
The updates to 2022-23 Grid will be in effect between January 1, 2023 through June 30, 2023, and were posted to the WVA’s website on November 4, 2022 in both PDF and Excel format (https://wavaccine.org/assessment-grid/).
The 2022-23 Grid lists vaccines and their corresponding CPT codes that are part of the dosage-based assessment (DBA) process for providers, health insurance carriers, and third-party administrators (TPAs). In effect, the Grid is the equivalent to a fee schedule. Providers are required to submit the DBA with the correct Grid amount, and health insurance carriers and TPAs are required to remit this amount.
To learn more please review the WVA’s Private Insurance Assessment Billing Provider Guide (https://wavaccine.org/wva-private-insurance-assessment-billing-provider-guide/). This Guide contains a checklist of items to ensure compliance with the WVA’s requirements. Properly paid DBAs ensure that adequate funds are available to support the State’s purchase of pediatric vaccines in Washington.
Should you have any questions, or if you are not the correct contact within your organization to receive this information, please notify us at compliance@wavaccine.org. We appreciate your organization’s ongoing support of the WVA.
Best regards,
