The Governor recently announced to the public that on October 31, 2022, his remaining COVID-19 proclamations, including the declared state of emergency, will be lifted. The Veterinary Board of Governors enacted a Veterinary-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) policy allowing flexibility with certain requirements in the VCPR rule. Once the declared emergency ends, this policy will also be rescinded, and existing rule language will apply.
The board has just begun discussing proposals to update the VCPR rule and consider additional rules related to veterinary telehealth. Here is general information about the rulemaking process and how to participate:
The board will discuss this rulemaking and begin to develop a proposal during quarterly and special meetings. Materials will be posted here (under Board Meetings) and sent via this email list about a week prior to each meeting. You are welcome to join the board’s meetings to listen and provide comments.
Once the board develops an initial rule language proposal, draft rule language will be sent for your review and comment.
You may also provide written comments at any time to Loralei Walker, program manager. Please indicate that you would like your comments shared with the board. Your written correspondence will be included with the packet sent for the board to review prior to meeting
