Q: WHAT IS HEALTH LITERACY?
A: Health literacy is the degree to which individuals can find, understand, and use information and services to inform health-related decisions and actions for themselves and others. Health literacy is important in making appropriate health decisions and following instructions for treatment.
Even people who have higher levels of health literacy can have trouble understanding health information in certain situations, including when they are stressed or sick—like during a pandemic.
Health care providers, public health agencies, community-based organizations, and other organizations that provide health care and services have a responsibility to support health literacy and make information easy to understand. Organizational Health Literacy is the degree to which organizations equitably enable individuals to find, understand, and use information and services to inform health-related decisions and actions for themselves and others.

SUPPORT V-Safe
The CDC uses V-Safe as one of their many surveillance tools for vaccine safety and effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccine. Clients who receive the COVID-19 vaccine can register in V-safe with their smartphone while they complete their observation period after their vaccination. It’s as easy as scanning a QR code and answering some questions. After they register, they can share with CDC how they are feeling after getting the COVID-19 vaccine through periodic text messages and web surveys. Providing the QR codes and/or information about v-Safe Vaccination Health Checker to your clients is another way to help the fight against COVID-19.
You can find out more about this program at the following link: V-safe After Vaccination Health Checker | CDC
