Vaccine Blurbs Issue 150: Shipping Delays & Rumor Busters

p3

Washington State Department of Health | September 27, 2022

Wondering Where Your Order Is?

If you missed the last Special Edition of the Vaccine Blurbs that was sent on September 18th, check it out here. Many providers have been wondering why their vaccine orders are taking longer than usual and we sent out a notice letting providers know that McKesson is currently experiencing a higher than usual volume and are working through a backlog of vaccine orders.

Please allow at least two weeks from your vaccine order approval date to receive your shipment.

Thank you for your patience as the distributor works to catch up.

Vaccine Choice Coming Soon

The vaccine choice window is a short period of time when providers can choose different brands of vaccine to include on their order sets. This opportunity only comes two times per year; once in the spring and once in the fall. Soon the vaccine choice period will open up and you will have the option to switch brands if needed. Please stay tuned to the Vaccine Blurbs for more information.

Rounding Rules

We have modified our definition of a temperature excursion to better align with vaccine manufacturers' rounding rules. Moving forward, anything outside of the in-range temps for refrigerated vaccine listed below (35 F/1.7 C - 47 F/8.3 C) will be considered a temperature excursion and will require follow up using the Temperature Excursion Guide. Rounding rules cannot be applied to temperature data reported below 32F / 0 C.
