This email is being sent to approved COVID-19 Vaccine Program Providers, Local Health Jurisdictions, and Emergency Preparedness Contacts.
Dear COVID-19 Vaccine Providers,
This is a reminder of an easy way for patients to find and receive COVID-19 and flu vaccines at your location. If your inventory is up to date, people can use Vaccines.gov to find your clinic. Please regularly log in to update both your flu vaccine and COVID-19 vaccine availability. It is recommended that you update your availability every two weeks. If you don’t update your stock, you won’t appear in the results and patients will not be able to find you for flu vaccination.
If you are enrolled and are offering flu vaccines, you can also update your flu vaccine status using the same portal as the COVID vaccine portal. Patients can also find locations offering flu vaccine at Vaccines.gov.
How to report your status:
- Make sure your enrollment in the CDC's COVID-19 Vaccine Provider Program is current. Enrollment is necessary to have your location show on Vaccines.gov.
- Update your COVID-19 vaccine and flu vaccine inventory in the COVID Locating Health Provider Portal.
- Update your vaccine status at least every 2 weeks to remain in the search.
- For detailed steps to updating your inventory, visit the gov Provider Resources.
Also, to update COVID-19 vaccine and appointment availability in the Washington State Vaccine Locator, enter your current information in WAHEALTH, which updates the Locator approximately every 30 minutes. Guidance on this process is available here.
DOH recommends a yearly flu vaccine for everyone aged six months and older. Flu is a serious disease that can cause severe illness and death, even in healthy people. The flu vaccine is the best defense against serious illness and hospitalization caused by flu. It is especially important for those who are at high risk of health complications caused by flu, such as pregnant people, adults over the age of 65, young children, and people with certain medical conditions.
It is best to get vaccinated by the end of October, before the peak of flu activity, but your patients can still benefit from vaccination after October.
