CVP Training Series: Back to School Planning, Off-Site Vaccination Clinic Guidelines & New Clinic Move Policy

Intended Audience: Providers and Vaccine Coordinators

2022-23 Flu Vaccine Should Be Available Soon

We are excited to share that childhood flu vaccine will be available to order in the IIS very soon. Please visit the Flu-Vaccines-At-A-Glance Guide to see what childhood flu vaccine presentations will be available this year for order.

As in the past, at the start of flu season, expect adjustments to orders early on to accommodate availability for all providers. Please try to schedule larger flu clinics for late September or early October when we anticipate greater supply availability.

And remember, childhood flu doses take a little longer than privately purchased flu vaccines to be distributed and the reason for that is depicted below. The manufacturers ship the vaccine to McKesson, then McKesson notifies the CDC of the quantity received, then the CDC makes an allocation for each state. See diagram below.

Immunize WA Winners!

2022 Immunize WA Winners

The Health Plan Partnership is proud to announce the 2022 Immunize Washington award winners to help celebrate National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM)! The partnership thanks all health care workers who continue to protect Washingtonians through the COVID-19 pandemic. You are essential! To see a list of the current and past winners, visit www.immunizewa.org.

Congratulations to all clinics who received awards this year. Since the pandemic began there has been an overall decrease in vaccinations and well child/adolescent visits, Washington appreciates all your efforts to ensure patients are up to date with recommended vaccines! Providers can use the social media hashtag #ImmunizeWA to post pictures of their clinics and staff with their award showcasing their achievement.

All awardees will receive an official certificate with window clings for gold and silver award winners to proudly display at their clinic. This year we are proud to announce a new bronze award for the childhood series. If you are wanting to improve your immunization coverage rate or learn how to run coverage rate reports, please email immunizewa@doh.wa.gov.
