Prepare Now for Holiday Shipping

How to Prepare: Vaccine Shipping-Holiday Schedule

During the holidays, childhood vaccines will not be able to be shipped on certain days, impacting delivery dates. Due to this, we recommend you order as early as possible and plan for multiple weeks without being able to receive deliveries.

Important items to consider:

  • Please plan accordingly for your vaccine needs and delivery availability. With weather and holiday carrier delays, shipping can be a challenge during the holidays.
  • Order as early as possible in the month to ensure delivery before holidays.
  • Orders placed after November 12th may not be delivered prior to December 1st.
  • Orders placed after December 8th may not be delivered prior to January 3rd.
  • Facility location and delivery times may impact delivery.
  • Planning for holiday shipping is vital due to the carriers having high holiday volume, it is best to submit orders early to ensure shipments are received before limited delivery occurs.
  • Check out the holiday shipping calendar for reference.

Prepare Now for Inclement Weather

Planning for Inclement Weather-Power outages

It is the season for inclement weather and potential power outages. Please ensure vaccines maintain stable temperatures. If you experience a power outage, please refer to your clinic's Vaccine Management Plan.

Emergency transport does not require prior approval. If vaccines are transported, ensure that a downloadable digital data logger(s) is used to record vaccine temperatures while in transit.

Report all temperature excursions to 360-236-2VAX or WAChildhoodVaccines@doh.wa.gov.

Reminder: Vaccine Transfers Require Approval in the IIS

All vaccine transfers in the IIS require approval by DOH prior to making the physical vaccine transfer. At the first lunch and learn in the CVP training series on November 18th, you can learn more about the new IIS vaccine transfer process. We have a few resources to assist with this newer process for your reference as well.
