Good Evening,
As providers continue to prepare for the COVID-19 vaccination of children 5 – 11 years old, we would like to provide you with the ordering schedule for the following week. Pediatric ordering will open for all providers within the Washington Information Immunization System (WAIIS) by 7 A.M. on October 18th and will close by 2 P.M. on October 20th. Local Health Jurisdictions will then provide feedback for the prepositioning of the vaccine that they have set forth for their community. Their feedback will be reported to DOH by 12 P.M. on October 21st.
Please note that there is limited supply of vaccine for the 5-11 year old children at this time, and all orders placed may not be approved.
The first provider orders will be submitted for fulfillment between the 22nd and the 24th of October, with incorporated LHJ feedback. As a reminder, there is a minimum order quantity of 300 doses for the program launch. However, subsequent weeks will offer minimum package sizes of 100 doses. If your facility does not have the capacity to store or administer 300 doses, please review the Vaccine Advertisement Page in the WA IIS to acquire a smaller quantity of doses from a vaccine depot.
It is possible for providers to receive pediatric doses prior to the approval of the vaccine. As a reminder, providers are not authorized to administer the vaccine until it is approved. Please store the vaccine appropriately as the vaccine is pending FDA authorization, CDC and Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup recommendations. Please note, there have been changes regarding storage and handling for storing the Pfizer Vaccine. The updated information can be found here.
If there are any questions, please submit them to COVID.Vaccine@doh.wa.gov.
