Hello Drinking Water Partners:

It’s been a couple of months since my last message and it’s high time for an update from us.

The Spring sunshine is bringing a feeling that the COVID-19 tide is finally turning. Many of our ODW Staff continue to work directly toward vaccination and testing efforts, so you may still see some delays in our services. It isn’t time to let our guards down, so stay vigilant and keep visiting our Coronavirus (COVID-19) Vaccine and ODW Webpages for updates, guidance, and information. On-line meeting platforms aren’t going away; but I’m looking forward to seeing you in person soon.

Our Deputy Director of Central Services and longtime ODW staffer, Chris McCord, accepted a position with the Department of Commerce. We’re already missing Chris and his departure represents the beginning of some changes in our Office. The “new” normal is still a moving target and we have an opportunity to make the most of it. If you’re looking for a challenging and rewarding position, or know of someone who is, keep your eyes open for ODW Job Opportunities.

2021 will be over before you know it, and Operators need to meet their Professional Growth requirement for eligiblity to renew their 2022 certifications. Waterworks operators must meet their professional growth requirement by earning 3.0 CEU (or pass a “next level” certification exam) by December 31. Visit Washington Certification Service’s On-line Portal to update your contact information and verify your professional growth status.

Many of our third-party partners are currently offering training opportunities; including remote training! AWWA asked us to share a free 0.3 CEU “Cybersecurity and Accessing Funding from USDA” training opportunity on May 3-4.

Hopefully you've had a chance to enjoy some of this warm weather. If you or someone else would like to be added to our email list for water systems and operators, contact Elizabeth Hyde. If you have technical questions or concerns, please contact Bill Bernier or your favorite ODW staff member.

Thanks once again for your continued efforts!

Best,

Mike Means
Office Director
