The 2019-20 flu season is right around the corner. The following products will be available through Washington's Childhood Vaccine Program this season. The age indications are based on Washington State's acceptable use of these vaccines per our Thimerosal law.
- Fluzone 0.5mL, preservative free, pre-filled syringe (age 6 months - 18 years)
- FluLaval 0.5mL, preservative free, pre-filled syringe (age 6 months - 18 years)
- FluMist 0.2mL sprayer (age 2 - 18 years)
- Fluzone MDV (age 3 - 18 years)
- Flucelvax 0.5mL, preservative free, pre-filled syringe (only available for those that are participating in the pilot and patients age 4 - 18 years)
As soon as we have a sufficient supply of flu vaccine, order sets are updated in the IIS and providers can order vaccine. We do not have concrete dates on when flu will be available.
DOH may adjust flu orders based on availability. Please ensure your electronic health record (EHR) is set up for all available flu presentations this season.
For more information on the flu vaccines for this season including vaccine types, age indications based on licensure and state eligibility, CVX codes & CPT codes, please review the Flu At A Glance Guide.
Note: products are licensed for a wider range of ages, but WA's acceptable use of flu vaccines for the Childhood Vaccine Program are listed in the table above.
- Select the flu order set from the drop down menu in the IIS (see image below)
- Only order what you'll use in the month
- Flu vaccine can be ordered at any time during the season
- Do not mark flu orders as urgent; all flu orders are shipped as a priority and cannot be processed as urgent

The World Health Organization delayed the H3N2 virus strain decision by a month. We anticipate this delay to cause a potential delay in receiving vaccines. Production issues with FluMist also resulted in nationwide cuts by the manufacturer. Manufacturers are estimating that vaccines should still be available late August or early September. We will continue to communicate more information as it becomes available.
