User Account Inactivation

To prepare for Single Sign On (SSO), we are conducting routine user account inactivation. If you have not accessed your user account in the past six months, your account may be inactivated and you will not be able to log in to the IIS.

If your account is inactivated and you still need access to log in to the IIS, please contact the IIS Help Desk at 1-800-325-5599 or WAIISHelpDesk@doh.wa.gov. They will be able to assist you with reactivating your user account.

IIS Data Quality Monitoring

DataCheck

Organizations and facilities who send data from their electronic health record to the IIS, receive daily warnings & errors reports that display data quality issues.

  • Errors mean the data was not accepted into the IIS and will not be saved on a patient's record in the system.
  • Warnings mean the IIS accepted the data, but data may be missing or incorrect.

Vaccination Entering Organization is Missing is an example of  a common warning that many organizations are seeing on their warnings and errors report.

What does this warning mean?

It means that the facility ID for the clinic documenting the vaccination was not included in the data sent to the IIS.

There are two places where organizations need to include this data in the messages sent from their EHR to the IIS:

  • One identifies the facility that documented the vaccine. If the facility ID is not included in this part of the message, the Vaccination Entering Organization is Missing warning will be displayed on the warnings & errors report.
  • The other one identifies the facility that administered the vaccine.

For more information about common warnings and errors, check out the Warnings & Errors Report Guide.

2019 Immunize WA Award Winners

ImmunizeWA2

The Health Plan Partnership recently unveiled the winners of the 2019 Immunize Washington Provider Recognition Awards during National Infant Immunization Week. To see a list of the winners, visit www.immunizewa.org

Congratulations to all the clinics who received awards this year. We appreciate all your efforts to ensure your patients are up-to-date with recommended vaccines!

Providers can use the social media topic #ImmunizeWA to post pictures of their clinic and staff to showcase that they’re a proud award winner. Awardees receive a certificate of their achievement along with window clings.

2019 marks the fifth year the Health Plan Partnership has hosted the Immunize WA provider recognition program – an incentive to recognize clinics reaching immunization rates of 70% or higher in child and adolescent patient populations.

With progressive increases each year, this year was the most successful to date. The 2019 awards brought a 22% increase in qualifying clinic nominations over 2018, boasting an impressive 315 awards.

Updated Tdap Recommendations

Tdap recommendations were updated by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) in April 2018 regarding children who received a Tdap between 7 through 10 years of age. Previously, a child who received Tdap between 7 through 10 years of age would not need another dose at age 11.

The ACIP recommendations now call for a Tdap at age 11-12 years for any of the following reasons:

  1. If a child received Tdap between 7 through 10 years of age as part of a catch-up series.
  2. Received a dose by mistake.
  3. Received a dose early to be prepared for a school requirement.

The IIS has NOT yet been changed to reflect the updated Tdap recommendations. Our IIS vendor is working on updates to the forecast and we will let providers know when these updates have been implemented.

Washington state school requirements currently reference a previous ACIP immunization schedule that allows a Tdap given at age 7 through 10 years to count for the 6th grade/age 11 requirement. The State Board of Health is considering updating the requirements to reflect the 2019 ACIP requirements and will  later consider options for implementation of the updated Tdap recommendations. If approved by the Board, the Tdap school requirement may change in the 2020-21 school year.

Please plan accordingly when vaccinating your patients or planning back-to-school vaccination clinics. In general, a dose of Tdap given between 7 through 10 years of age will require another Tdap to be given at 11-12 years of age. Please email immunenurses@doh.wa.gov if you have any questions about the updated recommendations or the IIS forecast.

IIS Forecast Update

The IIS forecast has been updated to address several forecast bugs related to MPSV4 and MCV4, PCV13, and polio doses. A summary of the bug fixes has been posted here.

For questions about the immunization schedule, the IIS forecast, or any other immunization clinical questions, please send an email to immunenurses@doh.wa.gov. Check out the Immunization Training web page for more resources and training opportunities.
