Apply now: Capital funding available for preservation of affordable multifamily housing developments

Applications due April 17

There is about $34 million across two funding opportunities for affordable multifamily housing operators and developers to preserve properties currently serving Washington communities. Applications are due by April 17.

Please download and carefully review the Notices of Funding Availability (NOFA) linked below for information about funding requirements and priorities, the process for submitting an application, and dates of significance.

Housing Preservation (#MHU-2026-04): Available to current Housing Trust Fund contractors that want to make major building improvements, preserve existing units, and replace systems to maintain long-term property viability.
Continuing Affordability (#MHU-2026-03): Available to any Washington affordable housing projects that are at risk of losing affordability.

We encourage applicants to view our 2026 Application Workshop recordings, posted on the Multifamily Rental Funding Opportunities website, under “Training resources for grantees.”

Additionally, we invite applicants to attend two separate technical assistance office hours to ask questions and seek clarification. The links to register for office hours are below.

Applications are due to the Department of Commerce by 12 p.m. Pacific Time on Friday, April 17. Award announcements are anticipated in June.
