New HMIS Data Standards to be Implemented Oct. 1

In less than a month, the new data standards will be added to HMIS for your immediate use. In general, any client active or newly entered as of Oct. 1, 2016 should have the new data elements in their program records. If you have someone in your program on Oct. 1, 2016, plan on updating their program entry questions to mirror new data requirements prior to exiting them from the program. If you need help, please contact your local HMIS system administrators. You can learn more about the new data standards by clicking here https://www.hudexchange.info/news/hud-releases-hmis-data-standard-tutorials/

Important Reminder about Assistance for Immigrants

From Kathleen Morris, Washington Anti-Trafficking Response Network:

“The purpose of this letter is to remind housing and service providers that they must not turn away immigrants experiencing homelessness or victims of domestic violence or human trafficking, on the basis of their immigration status, from certain housing and services necessary for life or safety – such as street outreach, emergency shelter and short-term housing assistance, including transitional housing and rapid re-housing funded through the Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) and Continuum of Care (CoC) Programs.”

If you have any questions, please submit them to the HUD Exchange Ask a Question (AAQ) Portal at https://www.hudexchange.info/get-assistance/my-question/.
