Agricultural bosses and supervisors will get valuable labor law training at seminars

TUMWATER — Agricultural supervisors and crew bosses with the right training can help ensure employers that hire workers with H-2A visas follow the law.

State and federal labor law training will be offered in Spanish and English at labor law forums in Yakima May 8 and in Wenatchee May 10.

The forums are sponsored by the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries, the Washington Employment Security Department, the U.S. Department of Labor and WorkSource.

The free half-day forums cover wage and hour requirements, workplace safety and health regulations, transportation and housing, workers’ compensation claims and more.

Space is limited so preregistration is recommended. People can register through the links to each session.

The May 8 seminar is at WorkSource Yakima, 1205 Ahtanum Ridge Dr., Union Gap. The Spanish session is from 8:15 a.m. to noon and the English session runs from 1:15 p.m. to 4:45.

The Wenatchee seminar is on May 10 at WorkSource Wenatchee, 270 9th st. NE #240, East Wenatchee. The Spanish session is from 8:15 a.m. to noon. The English session is from 1:15 p.m. to 4:45.

This annual training can help all agricultural employers avoid confusion and remain in compliance with all labor laws.
