ESIT DMS Update Scheduled for tonight

ESIT DEL Logo

Hello ESIT DMS Users,

We’re planning on doing a deployment to the live “production” system late tonight, for availability to you tomorrow morning. We will then schedule the same update for the Training system mid-day on Friday.

What’s included in tonight’s update?

School Report Update: “The Children in School District by Age” report now contains the IFSP type and issuance date of the current IFSP for a child. If the IFSP type/date is blank, then this usually means the child hasn’t yet completed an initial IFSP. Please note that this report is as accurate as we currently can make it, but we are missing a critical date (the effective date of change) for school districts. This is a needed addition to the DMS and will occur in a few weeks. Also, if for some reason, the tasks and/or deadlines set for a child need work, some anomalies can appear in this report.

Parent Portal Update: We have added the online links for the Parent Survey (both in English and Spanish). If a parent has been granted parent portal access, they may complete the survey online and won’t need to mail it. The links to the survey are on the left side of all screens. FRCs may enable parent portal access by entering an email address in the primary contact, then press the “grant portal access” button at the bottom.

IFSP Signature Page update: During a past deployment, the language on the signature page got a bit scrambled and needed to be corrected back to the correct version. Thanks to folks for pointing this out..

Data fixes: Through help desk requests, we are fixing some issues on about 15 children. If you have asked, you know who you are..

Silverlight 5 internet browser plug-in update: We have updated the DMS to the latest Silverlight code. We needed the latest version so that we can make additional performance enhancements. You may not notice the improvement right away, but you will very soon.

IMPORTANT!! If you do not have the latest Silverlight version installed on your computers, you will be prompted to upgrade when you login to ESIT on Friday morning. If you’d like to get ahead of the game, please visit this Microsoft web page today: http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/ We want you to be using Silverlight version 5. If you need an upgrade, please do it today to save you any last minute problems tomorrow. The web page contains information for you, or your IT contact, if you have any problems upgrading. I really encourage MAC users to check this page out today, as more of those machines had problems with Silverlight during the last upgrade.

Also expect loading of the ESIT DMS program to be quite slow the first time you run it on Friday (after any Silverlight update). The upgrade requires downloading all the newly updated elements and can take a while on slower connections or older machines..

Telerik controls update: This is the software that controls buttons, calendars, text box features, etc, etc. We needed to update the system’s Silverlight version in order to take advantage of the control update. This update contains enhancements, bug fixes and performance improvements. Again, you may not notice any significant improvements right away with this update, but you will in the future. You may notice a delay the first time you run ESIT on Friday morning while the new controls download. Please be patient and try not to force things by double, triple and quadruple clicking on things within the DMS. It won’t make things load any faster J.

HELP DESK SUPPORT:

In case you missed this in a past communication, Bob will be on vacation for the next two weeks. Terri will be your only help desk resource while I am gone. As usual, there is no support on weekends or holidays and Terri will also be gone on Tuesday, Feb 19. So, as a reminder, ESIT will have no help desk support. She will return on Wednesday.

Thanks much!!

Bob
