SAVE THE DATE: DCYF holds Community Legislative Summit

Dear DCYF community partners and stakeholders,

The Department of Children, Youth, and Families would like to invite you to our first community legislative summit.

During the summit, you will have the opportunity to share your policy and budget priorities for the 2020 Legislative session with other community members and DCYF staff. You will learn about the legislative processes at DCYF, including how the agency responds to fiscal notes and policy analysis requests from the Legislature. You will have an opportunity to work one-on-one with our legislative, program and fiscal staff to discuss any of your own legislative priority agendas or draft legislation. Our intent is that the summit helps prepare us all for this upcoming session. We see this as part of our collaborative work in supporting Washington’s children, youth, and families.

You are welcome to attend the entire day if you are able. For those who cannot be there for the whole day we have broken up the schedule into four sessions so you can plan your participation accordingly.

Prior to the legislative summit, DCYF’s Chief Financial Officer, Jenny Heddin and I will host a webinar to go over the agency’s fiscal note process. We will discuss how the agency creates cost estimates for legislative bills and policy proposals based on requirements from the Office of Financial Management. We hope the webinar offers a better understanding of our fiscal process and provides a solid foundation for the legislative summit. If you would like to participate, find webinar details HERE.

If you have questios please contact dcyf.communityengagement@dcyf.wa.gov. We look forward to collaborating with you to build a better legislative agenda for 2020.

Sincerely,

Frank Ordway | Director
