Community Transit News
Community Transit service changes will take place over three days this fall (including Sound Transit service that we operate): Saturday, October 2 - Monday, October 4.
The biggest change is the connection of all CT 800-series bus routes and three ST bus routes to light rail at Northgate. (ST is changing the name of Link light rail to 1 Line.) In addition, several CT local routes will have trips added to accommodate increasing ridership, and there are several minor route changes in north Snohomish County.
Northgate bus-light rail connection
- Riders can complete their trips on light rail, which will depart Northgate every eight minutes during peak times. Light rail travel time from Northgate to the U District is expected to take six minutes, and from Northgate to downtown Seattle, the trip is expected to take 14 minutes.
- Making this connection allows Community Transit to add 48 trips to its 800-series routes, mostly to improve bus frequency back to Snohomish County in the afternoon and evening.
-
Sound Transit Routes 511, 512, and 513 that currently run between Everett and Seattle will also connect to light rail at Northgate. People traveling to the UW, downtown Seattle or anywhere along the 1 Line can use any of these routes to connect to light rail.
- Route 512 will begin serving Northgate on Saturday, Oct. 2. The other routes mentioned above will start serving Northgate on Monday, Oct. 4.
- Community Transit 400-series routes and Sound Transit Route 510 will continue to provide direct bus service between Snohomish County and downtown Seattle.
Other changes Visit communitytransit.org/newservice for full details.
- Many routes will see trip time adjustments. Please check your schedule for possible new trip times. Several local routes will see added trips to accommodate higher ridership.
- Many routes will have routing changes or other changes to service.

New on-demand bike lockers at Ash Way Park & Ride
Designed to increase usage and provide a better customer experience, new on-demand bike lockers have been installed at Ash Way Park & Ride. The lockers, operated by BikeLink, are the same type already available at the Aurora Village Transit Center and other King County Metro and Sound Transit locations around the region.
To use the lockers, customers will buy a prepaid BikeLink card, similar to an ORCA card, find an empty locker, insert their card into the reader, enter the time they need and pay 5 cents an hour (50 cents for a 10-hour period), close and lock the locker and hop on transit. BikeLink staff provides online and telephone customer service for bike locker users 24 hours a day.
