Transportation Pilot to Launch in Lynnwood 2022
Community Transit has partnered with the City of Lynnwood to test new transportation services within the city.
Residents and employees in the city can provide feedback on two potential options:
-
Microtransit: This flexible service would operate within a broad area, similar to Uber or Lyft. Customers can simply request a ride when they need it. Requests for pick-up and drop-off would be made using a mobile phone app or calling.
-
Community Van: This would be an option for small groups of people who want to ride together, similar to carshare programs like Car2Go or Zipcar. The vehicles would be parked at convenient locations in Lynnwood, such as City Hall or Edmonds College. Residents could request a van for use or join a trip that is already planned.
The community survey is live until June 25. All respondents are entered into a drawing for one of four $100 VISA gift cards. After the survey closes, Community Transit will select the services to test, with plans to launch in spring 2022.
Lynnwood was selected for this pilot program because of its large population size and many popular destinations. Community Transit worked with a diverse group of community organizations to understand residents’ travel needs. Microtransit and Community Van were developed to address accessibility, equity, flexibility, and safety. Lynnwood will also be the site of the northern terminal for Link light rail in 2024.
Please encourage any of your employees who live, work, or travel to destinations in Lynnwood to take the survey!
