ETC Celebration March 24
Please join the Community Transit Commute Trip Reduction team as we recognize the efforts of our ETCs in 2020.
Wednesday, March 24, 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Special Guest Speaker Jeff Evans, Developing the Expeditionary Mindset
We appreciate all that our Employee Transportation Coordinators do. This year, rather than an awards ceremony, we will be recognizing the efforts and celebrating the resilience of all ETCs. With resilience in mind, we have also invited Jeff Evans to share how his experiences as a world-class mountaineer, guide and emergency medic highlight the importance of adopting the expeditionary mindset necessary to succeed in our current VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous) world.
The ETCs who attend the live event will be eligible to win a messenger bag packed with commuter swag!
You will also receive two hours of advanced training credit for attending!

Please RSVP by Monday, March 22.
Q4 Smart Commuter is a Vanpooler
Saving time and the planet are important to our Smart Commuter of the Quarter
Judy Nguyen has been vanpooling from Renton to Korry Electronics in Everett ever since joining the company nine years ago.
This data entry pro says reducing commute time and drive-alone stress are only two reasons why she loves hopping in her King County Metro van each day. After the toll lanes were implemented on I-405, she said sharing the cost of tolls was important. By not using the toll lanes, her group’s commute time sometimes doubled to more than an hour one-way.
“I like that I can reduce commute costs and rest during the trips,” Judy said. “I like helping to reduce carbon emissions in the environment, too.”
Judy said that she loves the option to use Guaranteed Ride Home in case of a family emergency or she needs to stay late at work unexpectedly.

Nashika Stanbro Named Community Transit’s First Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Program Manager
Community Transit has named Nashika Stanbro to lead the agency’s new Diversity, Equity and Inclusion program. The program aims to align the agency’s policies, practices, and resources to provide equitable opportunities in Community Transit’s workforce and in the transportation services the agency offers.
Stanbro has been a crisis communications Public Information Officer and media relations specialist at Community Transit for two years.
Community Transit’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion program begins at a time that the agency is working with various community groups to improve engagement with riders and populations that have historically not been included in the local transit planning process in an equitable way.
“Community Transit is committed to being a fair and equitable partner with the communities we serve, and our employees,” said CEO Ric Ilgenfritz. “Creating a culture of inclusion is one of our core values, and strengthens our commitment to provide equitable and just service to our customers.”

Community Transit is Getting You There Safely
At Community Transit, we are proud to provide an essential service to riders who need it each and every day. We recently launched a campaign in the community to share information on our COVID-19 safety measures and how riders can ride safely right now.
Here’s what we are asking our riders to do to help protect themselves and others:
-
Wear a mask. Help protect yourself and others by wearing a mask while waiting for the bus and throughout your ride.
-
Stay home when sick. Avoid riding if you are sick or think you may have been exposed to COVID-19.
-
Keep a safe distance. Maintain a 6-foot distance from others whenever possible. Enter the bus at the front door (middle door for Swift) and exit through the back door to help minimize passing close by others.
-
Wash your hands frequently. Wash your hands often, or use hand sanitizer when not near a sink, and avoid contact with common, high-touch areas.
-
Pay contact-free. Using an ORCA card is the fastest way to pay and no need to handle cash or change. Just tap your card on the reader at the front of the bus, or at the Swift station, and you are ready to go.
-
Stay informed. Follow us on social media for the latest safety updates. Subscribe to our Rider Alerts and use BusFinder for up-to-the minute service updates.
