128th St. Widening Project Nearing Completion

With 80 percent of the widening project complete on 128th St. near the I-5 overpass, crews aren't slowing down next week. Some of the work to be done June 25-29 includes:

• The rain garden at 128th St. and 3rd Ave. will be completed with the addition of trees, bio soil and topsoil.
• The road and sidewalk on westbound 128th St. near the on-ramp to northbound I-5 will be completed, from just before the on-ramp up to the bus pullout area.
• Work on the traffic signals near the on-ramp to northbound I-5 will continue.
• The westbound lanes of 128th St. near the on-ramp to southbound I-5 will be paved and re-striped.

All of this work will require lane closures as needed on the following schedule:

• West of I-5: One lane at a time will close for paving on Sunday, June 24, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. 
• East of I-5: One lane near the on-ramp to northbound I-5 will be closed Sunday, June 24 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. and again on Thursday June 28 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Access to on-ramps from all directions will remain open at all times.

75th St. and One Lane of Seaway Blvd. Closed This Weekend

75th St.: Closed This Weekend

75th St. will be closed from Seaway Blvd. to 16th Ave. W beginning Friday, June 22 at 6:30 p.m. until Monday, June 5 at 4 a.m.

The closure will allow crews to finish installing and testing the new traffic signals where driveways from the future Seaway Transit Center and PUD intersect with 75th St. After the traffic signals are done, crews will re-stripe the lanes of 75th St. to direct the new traffic flow.

When 75th St. reopens on Monday, the intersection will feature two through lanes for each direction as well as a median left turn lane for westbound traffic going to PUD or the Seaway Transit Center.

Seaway Blvd.: One Lane Closed on Saturday

The far-right lane of northbound Seaway Blvd. will be closed Saturday, June 23, to finish paving the edges of the bus pullout area adjacent to the future transit center.

Bus Stop on Eastbound 75th St. Closed June 25-29

The local bus stop on eastbound 75th St. just east of Seaway Blvd. will be closed June 25-29 as crews finish constructing the sidewalk in this area. The north-south crosswalk over 75th St. at Seaway will also be closed.

Riders of Everett Transit Route 8 and Community Transit Route 105 are advised to deboard their bus at the next stop (about 1,350 feet away) just past 16th Ave. W.

Station Repainting Enters Second Week

Repainting of Swift Blue Line stations is now into its second week, with the southbound stations at Everett Station and Rucker and 41st St. currently being painted.

Beginning on Tuesday, June 26, these stations will be closed for painting: 

• Southbound Evergreen Way @ 50th St.
• Northbound Rucker Ave. @ 40th St.

Northbound Rucker Ave. @ 40th St.

The Everett Clinic will be doing a major resurfacing project on the exterior of their building next to the northbound Swift station at Rucker Ave. and 40th St.

To accommodate that work and coordinate projects, this station will be closed on the following schedule:

• Saturday, June 23
       6 a.m. to 1 p.m.
       Removal of glass windscreen
• Tuesday, June 26 to Tuesday, July 3
       Repainting

Other than this station, repainting will be done first on southbound stations and move south until the station at Aurora Village is complete; then the project will head north, painting the northbound stations.

The entire project is expected to be complete by late September.

Construction Includes Four Areas, Several Stages

The Swift Green Line will run between the Canyon Park Park & Ride in Bothell and the Seaway Transit Center, which is currently under construction near the Boeing Everett plant.

Swift Green Line buses will serve 34 stations at 16 intersections and two terminals every 10 minutes weekdays, and every 20 minutes nights and weekends.

Community Transit is building the stations in stages: underground utility work, concrete platforms, and finally the station structures.

Construction began in Area 1, the northernmost part of the route, and will generally move east and south, resulting in each station being visited several times in 2018.

Swift stations will provide weather protection, seating, adequate lighting, real-time next bus signs, and a rider information kiosk. ORCA smart card readers and ticket vending machines will provide quick and easy ways for riders to pay their fare before boarding a Swift bus.

The Swift Green Line will connect with the Swift Blue Line at Hwy 99 & Airport Rd., establishing Snohomish County’s first high-capacity transit network. The network will eventually include more Swift lines and Link light rail.

The Swift Green Line will begin service in spring 2019.
