Construction on the Seaway Transit Center will reach a milestone before the end of the year, as crews complete the final steps of installing the massive storm drainage vault, completely burying it before taking a holiday break the week of Dec. 25. Other work on-site includes installing concrete foundations for the many light poles that will one day illuminate the transit center.
Meanwhile, road crews expect lane closures through Dec. 22 on the following schedule:
75th Street SW
Both directions will be down to a single lane from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The eastbound bus stop just east of the construction should re-open by the end of the week.
Seaway Blvd.
Single-lane closures are likely 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
All Seaway construction takes a break Dec. 25-Jan. 1.

Eastside Work Focusing on Preparations for Rain Garden
The construction crews working near the intersection of 128th Street SW and I-5 will be off on Christmas Day, but are expected to be back at work on Dec. 26.
West of I-5
Irrigation repair will be completed Dec. 15. The week of Dec. 18 will be quiet on the west side, but the following week will see crews installing railings on the retaining wall near Denny’s. Workers will remain within the unopened lane, so there should be no impact to traffic.
East of I-5
Beginning next week and continuing into the new year, crews will focus on excavation and trench work east of I-5, installing utility conduits and clearing space for a rain garden to control runoff.
Other work in this area may include wall grading and demolishing the current bus pad.

Intermittent Single-Lane Closures Expected Next Week
The week of Dec. 18-22 will be a busy one as crews attempt to complete the current stage of construction and prepare to begin a different stage in the new year.
Crews will be working at six station sites next week, grading, boring, and pouring concrete. Daytime work hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and nighttime work hours are 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.
On Thursday, Dec. 21, both the northbound and southbound right-hand lanes of Airport Rd. will be closed overnight at the Kasch Park Rd. stations to accommodate boring on both sides of the road. Otherwise, single-lane closures are scheduled as follows:
Northbound
Single-lane closures will occur on the northbound side of Airport Rd. just north of Hwy. 99 on Thursday night; at the 112th St. station on Wednesday and Thursday night; and at the Kasch Park Rd. station during the day Monday through Wednesday.
Southbound
On southbound Airport Rd. nighttime single-lane closures will occur at the 100th St. station Sunday-Tuesday and at the 112th St. station Sunday-Thursday. A daytime single-lane closure will happen on Friday at the 100th St. station.
Crews are off Dec. 23-Jan. 1, and will be back at work the night of Jan. 2.

Swift Green Line is Coming in Early 2019
Swift is Community Transit's Bus Rapid Transit service. Bus Rapid Transit is different than regular local bus service — stations are spaced further apart, fares are paid at the station, buses come by more often, and passengers get on and off the bus in about 10 seconds.
The Swift Green Line will operate between the Canyon Park Park & Ride in Bothell and the new Seaway Transit Center being constructed near the Boeing Everett plant. It is expected to begin service in early 2019.
When the Swift Green Line connects with the existing Swift Blue Line at Highway 99 & Airport Road, it will establish Snohomish County’s first high-capacity transit network. The network will eventually include more Swift lines and Link light rail.
Along the Swift Green Line, 34 highly visible stations will provide weather protection, seating, adequate lighting, real-time next bus signs, and a rider information kiosk. ORCA smart card readers and ticket vending machines will provide quick and easy ways for riders to pay their fare before boarding their Swift bus.
Stations will be constructed throughout 2018 in stages: underground utility work, concrete platforms, and finally the station structures.
Swift Green Line will begin service in early 2019.
