Trenching the station at Airport Rd and Kasch Park Rd northbound

Trenching the station on northbound Airport Rd. at Kasch Park Rd.

Construction Focuses on Northbound Side of Airport Road

Station construction this week will focus on three locations on Airport Road, occasionally affecting traffic flow in the northbound lanes.

One northbound lane will be closed as follows to pour concrete for curbs and gutters:

  • Airport Rd. and 112th St.
    Closed Dec. 4, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Airport Rd. and Kasch Park Rd.
    Closed Dec. 5, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Airport Rd. and Hwy. 99
    Closed Dec. 6, 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Double lane closures are also expected at these locations from 8 p.m. on Dec. 8 through 4 a.m. on Dec. 11, to excavate and pour concrete for in-lane bus pads.

Paving the far-right eastbound lane of 75th St SW

Paving Completed on 75th Street SW

The Seaway Transit Center site is undergoing trenching for electrical and communications conduits while backfilling continues around the large stormwater vault. Other work on-site includes construction of a building that will house mechanical functions and a concrete seat wall on the east side of the property.

Road crews this week took advantage of a rare dry day to finish paving the far-right eastbound lane of 75th Street SW. The lane is now open, but will close as needed through the end of the year.

75th Street SW
Lanes may be closed 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. in both directions to install foundations for new traffic signal poles.

Seaway Blvd.
Intermittent lane closures of Seaway Blvd. may occur on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Information about Seaway Transit Center construction is online at www.communitytransit.org/seaway.

Paving bus lane on 128th St SW

Bus Lane Merge Area Completed

The new bus lane in the eastbound lanes of 128th Street SW has been completely paved, including a merge area on the west side of the I-5 overpass.

Work on the west side continues as weather permits on driveways, sidewalks and landscaping. As-needed intermittent closures of the right-hand lane will occur on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

East of I-5

Planned excavation work requires moving Community Transit bus stop #1552 to a location immediately east of the intersection 128th and 3rd Street. The change will be effective at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 6.

No westbound lane closures are needed.

Information about the construction on 128th St. SW is online at www.communitytransit.org/128th.

Swift Green Line to Connect Bothell and Paine Field

Swift is Community Transit's Bus Rapid Transit service.

Washington State’s first bus rapid transit line opened in November 2009. The Swift Blue Line serves a 17-mile route between Everett and Shoreline. It provides fast, frequent and reliable service whether you are traveling from Everett to Lynnwood, Edmonds to Shoreline or anywhere in between.

The Swift Green Line will serve a 12.5-mile route between Paine Field/Boeing and Canyon Park/ Bothell. It is expected to begin service in early 2019.

The Swift Green Line will provide appealing choices for people to travel without a car. Because stations are further apart and fares are paid at the station, Swift buses offer rail-like quickness.

Not only will this route offer fast, frequent service to those living or working between Bothell and Boeing, but the connection to the Swift Blue Line will greatly expand the ease of transit use in our region.

The Swift Green Line will cross the Swift Blue Line at Airport Road and Highway 99, establishing a Swift network.

More Swift lines to the north and east of our county are planned for the future.
