Swift Green Line Corridor Construction Gets the Green Light to Begin
With its approval of the Swift Green Line contract for station construction at the August 3 Board Meeting, Community Transit’s Board of Directors gave the green light for staff to begin formalizing the construction schedule for the Swift Green Line corridor.
Station construction for the Swift Green Line includes:
- Mobilization and site work at 34 locations
- Concrete and paving work
- Intersection signal modifications
- Roadway improvements
- Station installation
Construction may begin as early as September 2017 and will continue through 2018.

Community Transit is First Transit Agency to Receive State Auditor's Stewardship Award
Washington State Auditor, Pat McCarthy, presented Community Transit with the State Auditor's Stewardship Award at the August 3 Board Meeting.
The award recognizes, "outstanding accomplishment in the stewardship of public resources as we pursue the shared goal of government that works better, costs less and earns greater public trust."
Community Transit recently earned its 22nd consecutive clean audit.
McCarthy, who has worked in public service for three decades, previously served as chair of Sound Transit and president of the Puget Sound Regional Council. McCarthy began her term as Washington State Auditor in January 2017.

Congratulations to our Newest Coach Operator Academy Graduates
Please join us in congratulating our newest Coach Operators, Curt Lear (left) and Aaron Gibson (right). They recently completed 10 weeks of intense training through the agency's Coach Operator Academy. A graduation ceremony was held on August 4 in the Board Room to celebrate their achievement with staff members.
The agency continues to recruit for coach operators, as well as many other positions. A list of available job opportunities at Community Transit is available here.
