Seaway Transit Center Breaks Ground in First Phase of Swift Green Line Project

A major milestone in Community Transit’s history was reached last week when construction of the Seaway Transit Center, the first phase of the Swift Green Line project, officially got underway.

Seaway will be the northern terminal for the Swift Green Line, but will also be a regional hub for Paine Field-area transit service.

Community Transit, Everett Transit and King County Metro Transit buses will all use this facility as soon as it opens in mid-to-late 2018. The Swift Green Line is expected to start service in early 2019.

The Swift Green Line will provide appealing choices for people to travel without a car. Not only will this route offer fast, frequent service to those living or working between Bothell and Boeing, but the connection to the Swift Blue Line will greatly expand the ease of transit use in our region.

Seaway Transit Center Project Next Steps

Early May: Removal of topsoil, temporary erosion fencing, development materials delivered, heavy equipment on site, perimeter fencing installed.

Mid/Late May: Relocation of Everett Transit bus stop one block east on 75th St., begin full excavation of site, construction roadway established, material removal by dump truck (may impact traffic).

June: Traffic control plan with City of Everett to narrow 75th St. to install turn lanes into PUD facility and transit center.

Swift Green Line Projects On Deck

June: Widening of 128th Street on both sides of the I-5 overpass in south Everett.

This project involves creating two new right-hand turn lanes, one approaching the I-5 northbound on-ramp from the east, and one approaching the I-5 southbound on-ramp from the west. These lanes will save buses 3-7 minutes crossing that busy overpass, while also providing a benefit to general purpose traffic.

Late Summer: Swift Green Line station construction along corridor.

This project involves construction of the 31 Swift stations and road improvements along the Swift Green Line corridor (see map). Bids for this project will go out this month and we expect to start construction before the end of summer.

Community Transit construction plans include special efforts to minimize disruptions to traffic, businesses and residents, including night- and weekend-only work for much of the 128th St. and Swift station heavy construction.

Swift Green Line Service Map

Swift Green Line to Connect Bothell and Paine Field

Swift is Community Transit's Bus Rapid Transit service.

Washington State’s first bus rapid transit line opened in November 2009. The Swift Blue Line serves a 17-mile route between Everett and Shoreline. It provides fast, frequent and reliable service whether you are traveling from Everett to Lynnwood, Edmonds to Shoreline or anywhere in between.

The Swift Green Line will serve a 12.5-mile route between Paine Field/Boeing and Canyon Park/Bothell. It is expected to begin service in early 2019.

The Swift Green Line will provide appealing choices for people to travel without a car. Because stations are further apart and fares are paid at the station, Swift buses offer rail-like quickness.

Not only will this route offer fast, frequent service to those living or working between Bothell and Boeing, but the connection to the Swift Blue Line will greatly expand the ease of transit use in our region.

The Swift Green Line will cross the Swift Blue Line at Airport Road and Highway 99, establishing a Swift network.

More Swift lines to the north and east of our county are planned for the future.
