Auburn's Petpalooza announces dog trot winners

AUBURN, Wash. – Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation and Auburn’s Petpalooza is pleased to announce the winners of the 6th annual Dog Trot 3K/5K Fun Run and Reber Ranch’s ‘Unleashed’ Pet Contest, both held on Saturday, May 18 at Game Farm Park in conjunction with the Petpalooza festival. The Dog Trot Fun Run was hosted by the City of Auburn and sponsored in part by PetSmart, Sterling Bank, and MultiCare Auburn Medical Center.
The fun run was an event for owners and their dogs, and served as a kick-off for Auburn’s Petpalooza festival. The race started and finished in Game Farm Park. Participants followed a 3 kilometer route (1.8 miles) or a 5 kilometer route (3.1 miles) that brought them through a neighborhood adjacent to the park and onto the White River Trail. Awards were distributed to the top participant in six age categories. Winners were announced from the stage at the Petpalooza festival. The winners of the 2013 Dog Trot Fun Run are:
3K Race: • Child (8 & under division): Katie VanValkenburg and Baxter (17:50.0) • Tween (9-12 division): Brody Roach and Seamus (15:57.2) • Teen (13-19 division): Megan Butler and Bristol (15:38.6) • Adult (20-35 division): Jonathon Dunn and Kobe (16:43.7) • Adult I (36-54 division): Donovan Jedel and Kyla (13:01.2) • Adult (55+ division): Marlene Voss and Coach (23:42.3)
5K Race: • Child (8 & under division): Lailianna Stewart and Maddison (46:10.0) • Tween (9-12 division): Adam Kerr and Cocoa (24:00.4) • Teen (13-19 division): Ashlyn DiDonato and Dixie (26:44.9) • Adult (20-35 division): Lindsey Markegard and Mia (20:02.5) • Adult I (36-54 division): Sandy Metzger and Skylee (20:13.4) • Adult (55+ division): Kory Belcher and Scamp (23:46.2)

Reber Ranch’s ‘Unleashed’ Pet Contest was open to 20 participants per category. Participants registered the morning of the event. The competition gets better and better each year.
