Annual Memorial Day Celebration to be held at Auburn Mountain View Cemetery
Ceremony to take place Monday, May 27, 2013 at 10 a.m.

Memorial Day commemorates all Americans, who have died in military service for the United States. In Auburn, a special Memorial Day Ceremony will be held on Monday, May 27th at 10:00 a.m. in the flag plaza at Mountain View Cemetery in Auburn, 2020 Mountain View Drive. The public is invited to attend.
The Cemetery will display many American Flags on the grounds and each Veterans gravesite will be decorated with a small flag donated by the Auburn’s VFW Post 1741. Boy Scout Troop 401 will be placing the flags and grooming gravesites from 9 a.m., to 12 p.m. the Saturday before Memorial Day, May 25th.
“Boy Scout Troop 401 has been serving Auburn for 90 years,” said Troop 401 Community Services Manager Mary Wilson. “We come out to Mountain View Cemetery every year to place American flags at every Veteran's grave because we feel it's very important to remember each soldier, their service, their lives and their memory.”
The Memorial Day Ceremony will include comments by Auburn Mayor Peter Lewis; a performance of God Bless America and The National Anthem by Auburn Mountainview Choir soloist Nicole Costa, an invocation by Chaplain Michael Hursh; a color guard presentation by Boy Scout Troops 398 of Federal Way and Auburn's Troop 401; comments by Post Commander Tony Dohse of Auburn VFW Post 1741; and a rifle salute and Taps by the Inter-Tribal Warrior Society.
The Cemetery is also offering special office hours during the Memorial Day weekend to assist families. Office hours will be from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 25th; from 12-4 p.m. on Sunday, May 26th; and from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, May 27th.
