Bring out the red, white and blue for where Les Gove Park will be filled with activities, food and fun on Exciting entertainment and activity options include 8 inflatable rides, a climbing wall, euro-bungy trampolines, a petting zoo, a pony carousel, lazer tag, book sale, two entertainment stages, a dj, a car show, craft grove, and food concessions. The traditional favorites include a kids’ bike parade beginning at noon, trackless train, bingo, bocce, mini golf, and much more. Auburn has everything you’re looking for to keep your child active, involved and entertained this summer. We offer summer camps for pre-school age through teens in various topics and settings. Week-long day camp options are offered for elementary school age and teens with weekly themes and adventures.

 

Auburn International Farmers Market - Sundays – June 10-September 23, Sound Transit Center Plaza.

The Market is open on Sundays from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. It’s the FRESH place for fruits, vegetables, herbs, berries, flowers and a cornucopia of other locally-grown items. Kudos to King Conservation District for their support of the market in 2012.

 

Entertaining bands and blockbuster movies are headed to Auburn for the Summer Sounds & Cinema Series beginning Friday, August 3.

Free family-approved fun includes Bocce at Les Gove Park (with free instruction courtesy of the Auburn Bocce Club on Tuesday and Thursday through October 11 from 3:00-6:00 p.m.) Disc Golf at Game Farm Wilderness Park, and the Rotary Spray Park at Les Gove Park open daily from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. through Labor Day. 

 

  

ADULT PROGRAMS

Summer is a great time to start, continue or mix up your workouts by trying something new. Our experience, trained and certified instructors are excited to meet you and assist you with your health and fitness goals in great fitness, wellness and community programs. Fitness/Wellness Programs

 - Zumba – Low impact, high energy cardio dance class. Great for all fitness levels.Mondays, 5:30-6:30pm, July 9-23 and August 6-10 and Thursdays, 6:35-7:35pm, August 9-23, $42/$52 per session.

- Pilates – Controlled movements focus on stretching and strengthening the muscles in your abdomen, back, buttocks and legs. Tuesdays, 5:30-6:30p, July 10-31 and August 7-21, $46/$57per session.

- Beginning Yoga – Viniyoga tradition relieves stress, tones the body and helps achieve balance in body, mind and emotions. Wednesdays, 5:30-6:45p, July 11-August 29, $68/$85; senior discount fee $63/$79.

- Continuing Yoga – Students deepen their understanding and practice of yoga in the Viniyoga tradition. Wednesdays, Wednesdays, 7-8:15p, July 11-August 29, $68/$85; senior discount fee $63/$79.

- Beginning Fitness Boot Camp – Ideal workout for beginners wanting to experience a circuit training fitness class. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:45-6:45p, July 31-September 6 $86/$107.

- Advanced Fitness Boot Camp – Advanced high intensity interval training and strength building routines.Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7-8p, July 31-September 6, $86/$107.

- Aki-Jujitsu – Basic training in three unique contemporary martial disciples, Aikido, Brazilian Ju-Jitsu and Combative Martial Arts. Training is strictly defensive and non-competitive.  Conditioning and stretching is built into class. Tuesdays, 7-8:30p, August 11-September 11, $54/$68.

Dog Obedience & More 

- Puppy Kindergarten – Socialization and basic obedience skills for puppies 8 weeks to 5 months.  Mondays, 6:30-7:30pm, July 9-August 13, $80/$100.

- Obedience 2 – Dogs and owners will continue working together to fine tune obedience skills.  Mondays, 7:30-8:30pm, July 9-August 13, $80/$100.

 

 

SPORTS & ATHLETICS

Registrations are now being accepted for the youth sports programs including Youth Soccer, wrestling with league play beginning in the fall. Costs vary based on the program. Costs vary based on the program

 

Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation is now taking registrations for the following adult sports:
- Flag Football – Summer League:  Teams play eight games in this popular six-a-side league. The league begins July 15 and runs through Aug 12.Fee is $700 per team.

- Tennis: Lessons are offered for beginner, advanced beginner and intermediate players through August.

- Auburn Team Tennis: Coed team tennis format based on USTA team tennis format. Individual registrations will be taken you can ask to play with one other player. Teams are formed on July 9 & matches begin July 11, league tournament is August 22.

- Golf: Group lessons are offered through September for beginner and intermediate players.

The new Gymnasium at Les Gove Park offers a variety of open-gym activities:

Adult Open Gym: Monday-Thursday, 11:30am-1:00pm, ages 18 and over and for evening open-gym times, check out the Gymnasium calendar

All Ages Open Gym: Monday’s 5:30-8:30pm 

 

Sponsors are being sought for youth athletic teams for the spring and fall. Sponsors receive their business or organization name and logo on a T-shirt uniform, an 8x10 team photo plaque and the benefit of helping youth enjoy a positive recreation experience. The sponsorship fee is $195 per team.

 

Tee it up at the Auburn Golf Course. For special deals sign up on-line to receive special announcements, pro-shop discounts, tournament news and more from the Auburn Golf Course, a 2012 Players Card, gift certificates are tournament registrations are now on-line and available for purchase. Toddler, Pre-School & Elementary Kids 

For fun summer camp options for the elementary school age kids, check out day camps, theater camps, dance and gymnastics camps, sport camps, and skateboarding camps. Ongoing Day Camp offered weekly, both 5 day and 3 day options through August 24.

 

Parent’s Night Out: Friday, July 6 & 20, and August 3 & 17 from 6-10pm. Drop off your kids at the new gym for an evening of games, arts & crafts, inflatable toys and sports while parents enjoy a night out. $16 first child and $10 each add’l child. Non-resident fees apply.

 

Toddler Indoor Playground -For ages 5 and under. Bring your child for socialization and fun! We provide balls, games, mats, riding toys, climbing toys and more in our gym. Summer hours through August 29 are Wednesdays, 10-11:30 a.m. and Saturdays, 9:00-10:30. Cost is $2 per child per session, $1 per additional child. 10-visit punch pass also available. No more than three children per adult. No registration required. Parent or caregiver must provide supervision of children at all times.

 

Preschool Classes to begin in July: Classes held at the Les Gove Park Building. The fee is $42 City of Auburn Residents/$53 Non-residents.

 - Small Fry: Come join the fun in this fun semi-structured class for 1-3 year olds and parents.  Have fun with crafts, painting, playdough, interaction with other parents/children.  A great way to help your child develop fine motor and social skills, Thursdays, July 12-Aug 16, 9:30-10:15a.

- Lotions, Potions, Mud Pies & More: Kids 2-4 years and parents come get messy from your head to your toes. Have fun with dough, paint, bubbles, goop and more on Tuesdays, July 10-Aug 14, 11a-12p.

- Come Learn With Me:  Children 3-5 years will learn through play, an introduction to the alphabet, numbers and colors on Tuesdays, July 10-Aug 14, 9:30-10:30a.

- Alphabet Soup:  Children 3-5 will have fun 3-4 letters of the alphabet each week through games, crafts and more.  Thursdays, July 12-Aug 16, 10:45-11:45a.

- Ballerina Enchantment:  Ages 3-5  will dance their heart out in this fun magical dance class.  Fridays, July 13-Aug 17, 9:15-10:15a, at the Les Gove Park Building.  The fee is $66/$83.

ELEMENTARY AGE:

Are you looking for Before or After School Care? Around the Bell serves Lea Hill and Hazelwood students on-site at Lea Hill. Dick Scobee, Evergreen Heights, Ilalko, Terminal Park and Washington students are transported to our West Auburn High School Site. We serve grades 1-5. We open at 6:30 am and close at 6:30 pm. Kids Pop Dance – Kids 6-9 will get up and get your feet movin and your body groovin’ and have fun dancing to today’s pop music. Fridays, July 13-Aug 17, 10:30-11:30a at the Les Gove Park Building. The fee is $66/$83.

Young Ladies & Gentlemen: This fun hands-on manners class for kids 6-10 years teaches the art of introductions, hand shaking, conversation skills, basic table manners, telephone etiquette, personal care and so much more on Wednesday, July 18, 9a-12p, at the Les Gove Park Building.  $36/$45.

TEENS & TWEENS

 

When schools out for the summer - we’ve got plenty of fun on the schedule for kids ages 11-16. There are fantastic camp options for teens this summer, including Teen Trip Thing, Theater Camps at Auburn Ave. Theater, CSI camp, Rock Climbing Camp, Girls on the Edge, and many sports camps. Get Up! and Get Out! this summer. Teens and tweens can check out the free daily activities offered at Olympic Middle School. The program features daily soccer, basketball, kickball, playground fun as well as lunch and a snack provided by the Auburn School District. The program runs Monday-Friday from 11am-5pm from July 9 through August 24.

 

Auburn’s Youth Council constantly welcomes new members. The Youth Council volunteers at local events, helps collaborate on ideas that benefit Auburn and takes on other active roles in the community. Call 253-804-5052 for details and an application.

Join the EXPLOSION of art and run in Downtown Auburn during ArtRageous on Saturday, August 4, 11–4 pm. Check out the Art Walk, hands on activities, artist vendors, a juried art show, pianos on parade, a lively entertainment stage, and a beer garden.

 

Auburn Ave Theater, located at 10 Auburn Avenue in downtown, will be the home all summer for Auburn Theater Camp. Performances of “Into the Woods Jr” are July 20 at 7:00 p.m. and July 21 at 2pm & 7pm and July 22 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $6 each for all shows.

 

Storefronts Auburn is underway on Main Street in Auburn! Two new installation are ready for viewing! One Main, has on display the stunning wood assemblages of Julia Haack. At 123 Main has a new installation by Josie Davis of Vestidos de Papel (paper dresses). The Center offers a monthly Mayor Coffee Hour. You’re invited to join Mayor Pete Lewis for coffee, cookies and good discussion on Thursday, July 12 at 10:00 a.m.

 

Bring the whole family to our monthly supper club on Monday July 16, 4:45 – 5:30 p.m. We will be serving BBQ Chicken, macaroni salad, baked beans, watermelon and dessert. The cost is $6 per person and please call the senior center to register.

 

Watercolor Workshops: Jo Anne  Iwasaki is offering half day Watercolor workshops this summer. The second in the series is Watercolor on Yupo. Explore the possibilities of painting on Yupo, a synthetic paper producing interesting effects. Bring what brushes and paint you have. If you have Yupo bring it, some will be provided for the project. The class is being held on Wednesday July 18 from 12-4 p.m. Please call the senior center for more details.

 

Musica Program “A Trip to the Ball Park”: July 26, 10:30-11:30 a.m. We encourage everyone to invite family to join in the walk down memory lane. Dress in your favorite team’s hat or shirt. Bring your favorite baseball stories and if you choose, any baseball items you wish to show. We will be passing out treats and singing along to baseball songs.

 

Richard Geiler- Trick Shot Show, Friday July 27 1 p.m. Richard “Rich the Hat” Geiler has been playing pocket billiards for over 50 years. In 1993 was ranked 32nd in the world by the Men’s Professional Billiards Tour. He previously owned and operated Cascade Family Billiards in Renton, Washington and currently owns a local billiard company known as Pool Tables Etc. He also has organized and participated in numerous charity events throughout the Northwest, most recently was in 2004 for the Maria Federici Foundation along with Johnny Archer, Mike Massey, Buddy Hall, and Dan Louie. He has been performing trick shot exhibitions – entertaining audiences from all over the world for more than 30 years. His shows consist of a combination of trick shots and instructional lessons.

Hooked on History: July 11, 18, 25 and August 1, 10:30 – 11:30a.m. Fun themed activities throughout the museum before the concerts in Les Gove Park. Activities and admission are FREE!

 

Farm Snoozzze!: Saturday July 21 – 22, 4p.m. – 8a.m. A family campout under the stars at Mary Olson Farm, sponsored in part by REI. Includes fun camping activities like scavenger hunts, field games and a hot dog and marshmallow roast. 

 

The White River Valley Museum, located in the Les Gove Community Campus at 918 H Street SE, is open Wednesday through Sunday, noon to 4:00 p.m. Admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children and seniors.

The Mary Olson Farm , located at 28728 Green River Road, is open Saturdays and Sundays June 16 – August 26 from noon – 5p.m. Admission to the Farm during regular open hours is FREE!
