The SKHHP Housing Capital Fund is well underway and moving into the next stages after receiving several well thought applications. The SKHHP Housing Capital Fund was created through an interlocal agreement between south King County cities with the express goal of creating and preserving affordable housing throughout south King County. For 2022, there stands approximately $1.5 Million Dollars to invest here locally in our own community.
Through the months of November and December the SKHHP Executive Board will be working to review each application thoroughly with the help of the citizen Advisory Board. By the beginning of 2023 SKHHP will be prepared to announce awards from the fund and the process for the SKHHP Housing Capital Fund 2023.
EcoThrive has applied for funds to develop 26 new homes in South King County that would serve households earning between 30-50% of Area Median Income (AMI), or approximately $38,800 - $65,700 annually for a family of four. The project seeks to increase homeownership opportunities in our region and will serve as a limited equity cooperative and a land trust model. Upon completion, EcoThrive will be available to provide support and resources to the Limited Equity Co-operative and could potentially begin housing new residents in 2025.
EcoThrive begin out of local conversations in the South King County communities and farmer’s markets. This would be their first project in our region but mirrors similar models in the PNW. Their mission is to build affordable villages that are ecologically sustainable and cooperatively owned to create beautiful communities for households to thrive.

Habitat for Humanity has applied for funding to support Phase I of their 40 affordable condominiums project. When completed, Phase I will create 20 three-bedroom, 1.5 bath townhomes for households earning up to 50% of area median income (AMI), or up to $65,700 annually for a family of four. The land will be held in a community trust, but this project provides an opportunity for homeownership. To help in the preservation of affordability, Habitat will maintain first buy back rights if the owner chooses to sell. New households would be able to begin moving into the Phase I townhomes by the end of 2024.
Habitat for Humanity has housed hundreds of families for over the past thirty years in Seattle/King County. Their mission is to create a world where everyone has a decent place to live and seek to accomplish it by creating opportunities for affordable home ownership.
