Frequently asked questions:
Why are these clinics only for elders and their caregivers in south King County?
People over age 75 in King County have had much higher rates of hospitalization and death from COVID-19 than any other group. Sixty-five percent of the deaths from COVID-19 in King County have been in people 75 and older, compared to 18% of the deaths among people ages 65-74.
People over age 75 have more challenges to getting vaccinated, such as transportation and online access.
South King County has experienced the highest number of cases. Protecting older adults in that area is a priority, especially for those who live in multigenerational homes.
While vaccine supplies are very limited, King County is ensuring equitable access for the highest-risk older adults who live in areas with the most COVID-19 cases. Additional groups will be able to get vaccinated at these sites when more vaccine is available.
