Traditional Drawing

Intro to Traditional Drawing

In this fun intro class, you will develop skills in representational drawing. This class will cover perspective, line, form, value and composition. This class will strengthen your skills in traditional drawing and as an artist. All materials will be provided and no experience is necessary! Pre-registration required.

Ukranian Eggs

Pysanky - Ukrainian Easter Eggs

Check out this unique class! Pysanky are intricate colorful designs created on the egg shell through the layering of beeswax and dyes. Participants in this workshop will be introduced to the rich traditions and history of the art of Pysanky. Using the fascinating canvas of the egg shell (chicken, pre-blown and prepared), students will complete a simple star-burst design, with the traditional batik method using kistka, bees wax, dyes, and candle.

No experience required and all materials will be provided. Open flames will be used, so oxygen equipment cannot be used on the premises where instruction is taking place. Pre-registration required.

Portraiture

Intro to Portraiture Drawing

In this great new class you will learn the fundamentals of Portraiture. In this class you will be introduced to the basics of anatomy of the human head and learn to create life-like portraits with traditional drawing materials.

Capturing her hometown of Auburn, local artist Diane Keck finds inspiration for her charming pastel artworks in the “trees and greenery of parks and trails,” providing her “endless opportunities to capture new images.”

Filmon Adelehey

Painter Adelehey creates work that can be “characterized chiefly by concentration on the general impression produced by realistic portraits, their sensation, feeling, and passion.” The artist’s work is expressive and painterly, seeking to create “the unexpected that gives a painting the quality of being special.”

Lana Blinderman

Lana Blinderman

Lana Blinderman is a Northwest documentary photographer whose work explores urban architecture. Auburn Arts present a collection of Lana's photographs of the beloved Valley 6 Drive-In Theatres prior to their closure.

February 20 - April 9th

Jaleh Sadravi

Sadravi is a mixed media Northwest artist, whose powerful portraits are intended to “tell stories of people of color whose voice and story are often silenced.” Inspired by everyday people and using language as a key visual element to explore ideas of identity in their work, the artists believes that “there is much to learn from the wisdom of our neighbors and I enjoy finding ways to showcase these lessons as a model to my audience.”

Artist Jenna Howell will be sharing an exhibition of her whimsical and colorful watercolor paintings. Howell is an arts educator also and she loves use her passion for art as encouragement for others to “pick up a brush and discover the beauty creating!”
