Fall Art Walk & Wine Tasting Features Local Artists, Inmate Art and Local Music!
On Friday, September 9 from 5:30-8:30 pm, Auburn invites the Puget Sound area to this free event. Auburn’s Historic Downtown brings Northwest artists who will display and sell their original handmade quality paintings, mosaics, and wearable art work in downtown businesses. Auburn’s Art Walk and Wine Tasting event will be back this spring for an evening filled with local artists, music, fine wines, and downtown businesses.
The art includes acrylic/oil/water color paintings, mixed media, metal, photography, jewelry, wood, drawing, fabrics, glass, porcelain, and a variety of arts from Art Spirit art created by inmates located at the Washington State Penitentiary in Shelton. Also included is the new Auburn Valley Creative Arts gallery. Participating artists are from the Puget Sound area and will be located in 15 venues.
The day of the event, a walking map, wine tasting tickets, custom wine glass and ID check will be available at the information booths at the Rottles location (222 E. Main) and Plaza Park (corner of Division and Main Streets).
Wine tasting tickets are $12 presale and $15 at the event and include 6 – one ounce tastes as well as a custom wine glass. Presale tickets are available online auburnartwalk.com or at Green River Cyclery (address) and Grocery Outlet (address) in downtown Auburn
For those taking in art and wine, visit Green River Cyclery and Busted Bike Café to experience the featured winery, Eleven. The winery produces a wide range of wines, something for every palate. Located on Bainbridge Island, we're a bit out of the mainstream, but are a part of a small community of winemakers who are making waves across the state. Good thing they'll be at the art walk on September 9 so you can taste it in Auburn and then visit the winery another day.. Paul Johnson, will be playing his acoustical & electric guitars at this venue. His music includes originals and cover tunes.
You can hear other local musical artists - The Davidson Brothers bring on the blues, jazz, and rock. You can catch them on Facebook with their Summer 2015 Bench Tour in Auburn. Visit them at B Street Plaza in downtown. New Age Flamenco frequently plays popular tunes by Gipsy Kings, Carlos Santana, Armik and others. Their music reflects a strong Latin connection, Mediterranean folk, European roots, jazz, and a Gypsy soul blended with the infectious rhythms of modern music. Hear them at the City Hall Courtyard.
The Auburn area is home to scores of creative artists as well as those who support the arts. We encourage everyone, of all generations, to come join in this wonderful, fun opportunity to meet, learn and purchase original works from our local area artists.
