Auburn Event and Traffic Advisory

Please note that this weekend there will be simultaneous I-5 lane closures and a full closure of SR 167. There will also be a concert on Sunday.

The City of Auburn Traffic Division, Police Department and Streets Division will be working hard in the coming days and weeks to accommodate the extra activities, festivals and traffic.

The majority of the impacts will be seen on Auburn Way South, the Muckleshoot Casino area and the White River Amphitheatre. Officials want to inform area residents of the upcoming activities so you can plan accordingly for increased traffic and noise.


Street & Lane Closures:

  • Between 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19 and 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, WSDOT crews will fully close all lanes of southbound SR 167 between Ellingson Road and 8th Street East and the 8th Street East off-ramp from southbound SR 167.
  • Starting Wednesday, August 24, 2016 through approximately October 31, 2016, D’ Street NE from 49th Street NE to S 277th Street will be closed to through traffic for construction activities for the S 277th Street Corridor Capacity and Non-Motorized Trail Improvements project. This work is dependent on weather. Signed detour routes will be posted. Access to residences and businesses within the project area will be maintained during construction but delays should be expected.  
  • On Monday, August 22, 2016 and Tuesday, August 23, 2016 construction of the MIT Master Meters project will require intermittent daytime lane closures for westbound traffic on Auburn Way South from Dogwood Street SE to Riverwalk Drive from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM for construction activities. This work is dependent on weather. Access to residences and businesses within the project area will be maintained during construction, but delays should be expected.

Traffic Advisory:

Crews will be striping arterial and collector roads throughout the City through September. Please do not follow paint vehicles too closely or cross over wet paint. This work is dependent on weather.

Access to residences and businesses will be maintained during painting, but minor delays should be expected in areas where painting is currently taking place.

    Construction Locations:

    • South 277th St - Auburn Way N to Green River Bridge
    • West Main St. - Interurban Trail to W Valley Hwy, W Valley Hwy from W Main St. to 15th St SW, 15th St NW from W Valley Hwy to C St. SW
    • Southbound I-5/S - 320th to Duwamish River
    • Auburn Way South - Muckleshoot Plaza to Dogwood St. SE - beginning in September 
    • Southbound I-5 weekend lane reductions: August 19-22 at the Duwamish River Bridge
    • Dykstra Levee - area of 12 St NE to 24th St NE
