Join us in April for amazing programs for patrons of all ages.
Eclipse day is almost upon us! South Burlington residents can stop by the library front desk for free eclipse glasses while supplies last.
The weekend before the eclipse the city is hosting the Illuminate Vermont Artisan Street Festival on Friday April 5th and Saturday April 6th from 5-9pm. The Library will host performers in the living room area and the Friends of the Library will have a pop-up book sale featuring children's books and mass market paperbacks. Our artist-in-residence Dr. Jolivette will be performing her poetry on Saturday night. Join us for the festitivies!
Interested in more poetry? The Poetry Society of Vermont will be presenting a Corporeal Poetry Exhibit throughout the month. Over twenty poets from around Vermont will be exhibiting poetry entwined in forms of collage, painting, photography, sculpture, embroidery, and other media.
Prose more your style? Join us for morning book group at the begining of the month to discuss West with Giraffes or evening book group at the end of the month to discuss The Boys in the Boat. We are also co-hosting a book group with the South Burlington Affordable Housing Committee about Homelessness is a Housing Problem by Gregg Colburn and Clayton Page Albern.
Have a teen looking for something to do? Teens ages 13-18 can come make stomp rockets on April 20th in the YA Loft and then head outside to test them. Throughout April kids and teens grades 6-12 are invited to join South Burlington artist and educator Katie O'Brien to create a permanent art installation for the South Burlington bike path. The sculpture will be created using PVC pipe, bicycle wheels, and sheet metal.
Have a child that loves jigsaw puzzles? Sign up for the KIDS Great Jigsaw Puzzle Race! Teams of 1, 2, or 3 people will race to complete identical puzzles and the winning team wins a prize! Pre-registration is required.
Last, but not least, join us for a special knit for your neighbor under the Kidspace tree on April 11th. We will be getting a visit from Hannah Miller, an associate professor of education at Vermont State University-Johnson. She is spending her sabbatical on a quest to write, read and knit in as many of the 187 public libraries in Vermont as possible.
