Public Hearing: TIF District

The purpose of the hearing is to obtain public comments regarding a request to the Vermont Economic Progress Council for a substantial change to the Tax Increment Financing District (TIF District) Plan and Financing Plan for the City Center TIF District in South Burlington, VT.

Airport Announces Flight Tracking & Noise Monitoring
The Burlington International Airport announced the installation of a flight tracking and noise monitoring system, paid for by grant funding from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Through the use of permanent noise monitors located in affected areas, the Airport will be able to measure noise levels associated with aircraft operations and provide information to individuals and communities affected by Airport operations through an online portal.

The City's Planning Commission is considering a series of changes to the City's Land Development Regulations. They are grouped into four main categories:
- Subdivisions, Master Plans, and Planned Unit Developments
- Environmental Protection Standards
- Zoning District Changes
- Stand Along Amendments

A special meeting of the Planning Commission is scheduled for Tuesday, November 2 with the following agenda item:
- Review of feedback, possible changes to draft, and possible action to approve and submit the draft Amendments to Land Development REgulation and Planning Commission Report (as amended) to City Council.

NEW Public Art Gallery Show: Hometown Watercolorists
The South Burlington Public Art Gallery will open its next show with an exhibition by Vermont watercolor painters called Hometown Watercolorists. The show features work by five Signature members of the Vermont Watercolor Society, three of whom are South Burlington residents, Martin Lalonde, Lynn Cummings and Lauren Wooden. The group is completed with Joey Bibeau of Essex and Alice Eckles of Middlebury.
The gallery is available to the public whenever the Public Library, City Hall, or Senior Center are open, Monday- Thursday 8 a.m.-7 p.m., Friday 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. “Hometown Watercolorists” will run through January 7, 2022. The public is invited to the opening Thursday November 4, 5:30.
Water Interruption— Spear Street | Nov 2
The South Burlington Water Department will be shutting water off to parts of Spear Street on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at approximately 8:00 AM to replace a damaged fire hydrant. This water may be off until approximately 4:00PM.
If you are a homeowner or business owner, you should shut your inside water valve off at the meter, or the water valve on your hot water tank. If you are a tenant you are asked to contact your landlord or property management company with this information. You or your landlord/property manager are advised to shut off your inside valve at the water meter, or shut off the incoming water valve at your hot water tank.
If the water appears discolored when service is restored, please allow your cold water faucet to run until it clears.
