While the holiday season may bring the jingle of silver bells, Prince William County Economic Development & Tourism is celebrating the sounds of scissors snipping and shovels digging! Recently completed transportation and infrastructure projects are making it easier than ever to navigate the county and connect to the broader region. From enhanced roads and rail services to the addition of modern commuter garages, these milestones are paving the way—literally and figuratively—for improved mobility and accessibility for residents and businesses alike.
Prince William County has opened its first commuter garage introducing a state-of-the-art facility featuring 1,400 parking spaces, Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations, OmniRide bus stops and a newly constructed pedestrian facility along River Rock Way, offering a more accessible and eco-friendly commuting environment. Conveniently located near Potomac Town Center, the new Opitz Boulevard ramp on the I-95 Express Lanes, and directly across from Sentara Hospital, the garage is poised to enhance multi-modal commuting in the area and expands parking accessibility for residents and local businesses.
Starting Dec. 9, OmniRide will relocate its eastern local transfer hub to the newly opened Neabsco-Potomac Commuter Garage on Opitz Boulevard in Woodbridge, directly across from Sentara Medical Center. Several local routes, including the Dumfries Connector, Lake Ridge Connector and East-West Express, will now operate out of this state-of-the-art facility. This move, along with local route overhauls introduced earlier this year, aims to provide more efficient, streamlined and direct service while expanding connections to new destinations in eastern Prince William County.
