Prince William County wants to hear from all of its residents in the 2024 Community Survey! The county has conducted community surveys since 1993, but this is the first time the county has included an open response survey, providing an opportunity for all residents to have a voice in the survey results and shape the future of the community!
The Prince William County Office of Elections is currently looking for individuals to serve as election officers in the upcoming Presidential Election. Election officers work on Election Day and receive a $200 stipend and additional bonuses for bilingual skills. The application deadline for this November's Presidential Election is August 2, 2024.

If you're a resident of Prince William County and you need to dispose of household hazardous waste, the county has set up a series of Pop-up Household Hazardous Waste disposal events at the Western Bus OmniRide Maintenance and Operations Facility in Manassas. These events are only for county residents and not available to businesses or commercial users. To participate, you need to show proof of residency with a Virginia Driver’s License or Virginia State ID that includes a photo and your home address.
The Prince William County Department of Social Services is getting ready to relaunch its Fatherhood Initiative, which helps fathers develop better communication skills and learn how to care for their children’s best interests. The relaunch of the initiative holds the promise of not only strengthening individual family units, but also contributing to the overall wellbeing and success of Prince William County. A free pool party at Waterworks Waterpark in Dale City on Saturday, July 20, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., will kick-off the relaunch of the Fatherhood Initiative. Families can bring their children to the party, enjoy each other's company and meet new people.

The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments recently announced Linda Cheeks from Prince William County as one of their 2024 Foster Parents of the Year honorees. According to COG, Ms. Cheeks has been an exceptional source of hope, love and stability for foster children in Prince William County. Since 2010, her love, support, and guidance have helped numerous children overcome adversity and build brighter futures.
On June 6, Governor Glenn Youngkin announced Beanstalk Farms Inc.’s second indoor farm and distribution facility at the Freedom I-66 Industrial Business Park in Manassas. The project includes 18 new jobs and a capital investment of $4.1 million. Beanstalk Farms expects to produce 2.1 million pounds annually of Virginia Grown leafy greens and fresh-cut herbs.
This summer, the Prince William County Fire & Rescue System is teaming up with the county Building Code Enforcement, Emergency Management and other county agencies and community-based organizations to bring Fire and Life Safety Pop-ups to your neighborhood. These family-friendly outdoor events will provide information and education on topics such as smoke alarms, when to call 911, emergency preparedness, home and building safety and more! Plus, there will be fire and rescue apparatus on site, along with a special appearance by Sparky the Fire Dog!
The Department of Facilities & Fleet Management (FFM) Internship and Apprenticeship Program offers career exploration opportunities and provides training and development for high school and college students, equipping them with the specific skills necessary to maintain Prince William County assets. Participants in the program engage in team-building exercises, resume preparation, career exploration, and job shadowing experiences. The goal is to build the county’s future workforce by providing education and awareness about FFM’s operations and the array of over fifty careers available within the department.
