Prince William County is rich in African American history. This month, the county is hosting several events to celebrate Black History Month, including the Prince William County Black History Committee’s event "The New Negro Movement — Prince William County Presents African Americans and the Arts,” which will be streamed live on Thursday, Feb. 22, at noon, as well as several events at the county’s historic properties.
Prince William County will launch the Automated Traffic Enforcement Pilot Program in multiple school zones throughout the county in February. The purpose of the program is to improve safety for pedestrians and drivers alike by encouraging drivers to slow down and be alert to those around them.

The Prince William County Planning Office and the Department of Transportation are seeking public feedback through a survey to aid in developing a multimodal corridor study for Route 28 in the Yorkshire area. The study explores cost-effective alternatives to increase multimodal travel options, such as walking, biking and transit on a two-mile stretch of Route 28 in the Yorkshire area, between the Fairfax County line and the City of Manassas.

This plan will guide PWPL staff, stakeholders and community partners to fulfill their mission of connecting people to the transformative power of information. The 2024 – 2028 Strategic Plan outlines six main goals to improve library programs, services and resources for more than 500,000 residents in Prince William County and the City of Manassas.
