Prince William Board of County Supervisors Defers first half of Real Estate Tax Due Date for Unpaid Taxes to October 15

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA – The Prince William Board of County Supervisors deferred the first-half real estate tax payment due date to October 15, 2020. This moves the date from July 15 for all currently unpaid 2020 first-half real estate taxes to provide penalty and interest relief to residents and businesses considering the pandemic.  This action also allows the public three additional months of time before they need to remit their 2020 first half real estate payment potentially alleviating approximately $3.8 million in penalties plus interest that might have otherwise been assessed beginning July 16. This action does NOT apply to any delinquent taxes, penalty, or interest that was due before July 15 nor does it mean that any 2020 first-half real estate taxes already paid will be refunded.  The initial deadline was July 15, 2020, and it has been moved to October 15, 2020.
