The CSB's Addiction Medicine Clinic (AMC) helps adults who want to stop using substances by offering medication for addiction treatment seven days a week. These medicines ease withdrawal symptoms and reduce cravings. This makes recovery safer and more comfortable. All care is offered in an outpatient setting which means you do not need to stay overnight.
AMC Supervisor Jennifer Scrivener shares, “Our goal is to help people set their own recovery goals and work toward them with support from their medical team. We offer respectful, non-judgmental care and medicines that can help with substance use disorders. Our clinic is a safe, supportive place where people get treatment that fits their needs.”

To qualify for full Medicaid benefits after October 1, 2026, adults will need to be a U.S. citizen, a Lawful Permanent Resident, Cuban or Haitian Entrant, or a Compact of Free Association migrant. There's always an opportunity to talk about how each of us can help prevent suicide and share local resources from the Fairfax-Falls Church CSB.
Raymond Paden, Program Manager of the CSB’s Wellness, Health Promotion and Prevention team shares that, “Providing hope starts with simply letting a person know that you care and that they are not alone.”
CSB staff, partners and family members participated in the Out of Darkness Walk on October 3 to raise awareness about suicide prevention.

Building Resilient Communities
The memories of childhood experiences are stored in the body as well as the mind. From the very first spark of life, our experiences profoundly shape who we are and who we will become.
Training is offered on October 9, 2026, and November 24, 2026.

Support Someone in Crisis
You are more likely to encounter someone experiencing a mental health crisis than someone having a heart attack. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches you the common warning signs and risk factors associated with mental health concerns, along with a five-step action plan to help someone in crisis.
An adult MHFA training is offered on October 15, 2026. A youth MHFA training is offered on October 20, 2026.

Autumn is a great time to enjoy the outdoors. Spending time in nature can reduce stress, improve mood and boost physical health. Try a walk in a park, a hike or simply sit outside to soak in the crisp air and fall colors.
