Principal Message

Dear Lorton Station Families,

This school year, Lorton Station Elementary will have four 3-Hour Early Release Wednesdays. These shortened school days provide teachers with valuable time for professional development, collaboration, and planning to strengthen instruction and support student success.

Students will be dismissed at 1:05 p.m. on each early release day. Lunch will be served as usual.

Early Release Dates:

  • Wednesday, October 21

  • Wednesday, December 2

  • Wednesday, February 10

  • Wednesday, May 5

We encourage parents and caregivers to follow their usual dismissal routine, whether students ride the bus, walk home, use Kiss and Ride, or travel to daycare. We understand that early dismissal may create scheduling challenges for some families. If needed, students will participate in supervised activities at school, and we will arrange for them to return home at their regular dismissal time.

SHOW UP AND SHINE

Our Show Up and Shine attendance initiative is underway, and we are currently averaging 94% attendance! Thank you for helping our Roadrunners show up ready to learn. Let's continue working together to improve our attendance!

Attendance equals academic achievement! Every school day gives students valuable opportunities to learn new skills, build relationships, participate in classroom activities, and make academic progress. Missing school means missing important learning experiences. Please help your child arrive on time and attend school every day whenever possible.

Celebrating Our Academic Progress!

We are excited to celebrate Lorton Station's 90.7 School Performance and Support Framework (SPSF) score! This achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of our students, staff, families, and school community. While we celebrate this progress, we remain committed to continuous improvement. Each day, we strive to strengthen instruction, provide meaningful learning experiences, and support every student's academic growth.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Together, we are helping our Roadrunners grow, shine, and succeed!

Have a Great Day,

Dr. Legagneur, Ms. Champion, Mr. Barton

SHOW UP AND SHINE ATTENDANCE CHALLENGE

Lorton Station has launched our SHOW UP AND SHINE Attendance Challenge with a special emphasis on our Attendance Spirit Week. Strong attendance is vital to every student's academic and emotional well-being. When a child misses 10% or more of school each year, it significantly affects their ability to develop as a reader, build critical thinking skills, become a writer, and understand complex math concepts. We want to partner with our families to join our SHOW UP AND SHINE Challenge to ensure your child maintains a 90% or higher attendance every month.

Monday: Favorite Hat Day

Tuesday: Twin Day

Wednesday: College or Professional Day
