Throughout the summer, we will introduce our new Island Creek staff members! We have the Best of the Best joining us at Island Creek! We will also post our new staff profiles on Facebook.
Ms. Bogue: PreK Teacher
My name is Jaimilee Bogue, and this will be my 13th year of teaching! Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to teach PreK, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade. As part of a military family, I’ve had the privilege of teaching in a variety of diverse school communities.
Ms. Wells: PreK Paraprofessional
I have been an Instructional Assistant with FCPS for 10 years. I have worked in PAC, Non-Cat, First and Second Special Education, and Kindergarten. Before FCPS, I was a Preschool teacher at a private Christian school. My favorite thing to do outside of school is traveling, and going to the beach!
Ms. Walden: Student Information Assistant/ Registrar
My name is Shavon Walden, and I’m excited to be joining the Island Creek community! For the past four years, I’ve served as a Student Information Assistant with FCPS, where supporting students and families has been a truly rewarding experience. Outside of work, you’ll find me curled up with a good book or cherishing quality time with my family. I can’t wait to get to know each of you and contribute to this wonderful school!
Ms. Heath: School Counselor
I am the new counselor at Island Creek! My husband, a retired Army Officer and I have two adult daughters and a granddaughter. I have been an educator for over 30 years, mostly in military communities. I spend my leisure time with my family, reading suspense novels, and enjoying nature.
Ms. Arvai: Second Grade Teacher
I'm so excited to become a Croc and get to know the families of Island Creek! The 26-27 school year will be my 13th year teaching. I’ve taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade in both Fairfax County and Arlington Public Schools. I’m eager to return to FCPS! In my free time, I love to spend time with my husband and daughter (5). We spend a lot of time outside, at the pool, or any playground we can find. I also enjoy working out, going on walks, and exploring new places.
Summer Learning Resources for Families
Instructional Services is supporting student learning over the summer. Digital and print resources are being curated on the Summer Learning Resources webpage for students and families to review and practice previously taught content throughout the summer months.
Resources are organized by grade level and aligned to the learning students experienced during the school year. Families can access the materials at any time to review concepts, practice skills, or explore new ideas at home. Additional resources will continue to be added throughout June.

Island Creek is offering the convenience of pre-purchasing a school supply kit from Campus Survival Kits. All of the ordering information including what the kit includes and how much it costs can be found online here. There is also a flyer that went home in your child's backpack this week.
The school supply kits will be delivered to the school in August and will be available in your classroom at Open House (or the first day of school, if you are unable to make it to Open House).
The due date to order a school supply kit is July 15th.
If you would prefer to buy your school supplies separately and not order a kit, the list will be available on the Island Creek website next week.
