FIELD DAY FRIDAY!
Dear Fairhill Families,
This is a great week at Fairhill! There are so many fun and meaningful things happening across our school.
Today, our sixth graders are on their traditional field trip to Gettysburg, traveling by charter bus (many of the kids' favorite part!) and making memories together as they connect their learning to an important historic site. Across the building, our other students are engaged in exciting end-of-year projects that help capture and celebrate all they have learned throughout the year.
As a reminder, this Friday is Field Day. Please make sure your child wears appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes, applies sunblock if desired, and brings a water bottle. We are keeping an eye on the possibility of rain, but as of now, we are looking forward to a wonderful day together.
Thank you for your trust, partnership, and collaboration as we wrap up this school year. We are grateful for our Fairhill community!
All our best,
Ted and Maura

We still have 217 overdue library books. If you receive an email today, please make every effort to find the books. If you cannot, replacement plans include: 1) buying a copy to send in with your student, 2) sending in the exact cost of the book(s) via check to Fairhill ES or cash, or 3) contacting the librarian, Leslie Howard, or the family liaison, Yessica Lugo, if these options do not work for your family. Thank you!

Calling for Volunteers: Help to Make a Big Difference in our community
The Fairhill PTA again will continue to support Fairhill families and our broader local community by collecting unused food purchased from the cafeteria (e.g., milk, string cheese) and/or unopened store-bought food (e.g., crackers) during the spring semester
Our kids' role -> Kids are asked to leave food they may otherwise toss in the garbage and instead put it off in the Food for Others fridge in the cafeteria.
Our volunteers' role -> Once a week (Mondays or Tuesdays), we are asking for a volunteer to collect the food and drop it off at Food For Others (1 mile away).
Our collective Impact -> In addition to minimizing food waste, we are helping 75,000 Fairfax County (and Fairhill families) who are food insecure. On a weekly basis last year, we collected hundreds of milk cartons, string cheese packets, crackers, yogurts and more.
Sign up here to volunteer! Questions???? Call/text//email Anika Marpaka (anikaamin@yahoo.com or 703 855 0500)

Please Check Your Student’s Lunch Balance
It’s a busy time of year, and we know many priorities are on your plate. As we approach the end of the school year, it is important to check your student’s MySchoolBucks account and pay any remaining school meal balance.
Free and Reduced-Price Meals
Families who earn less than 185% of the poverty level qualify for free and reduced-price meals (FRM). However, an application must be completed and submitted each school year to receive that benefit. The application for the 2026-27 school year will be available this summer.
If you have a current balance and think you may be eligible for free and reduced-price meals, please fill out the FRM application for the 2025-26 school year.

Finish the School Year With Strong Attendance!
As we enter the final weeks of the school year, Fairfax County Public Schools appreciates your continued partnership in supporting your child’s success. Regular attendance plays an important role in helping students stay engaged in learning, maintain connections with their teachers and peers, and finish the school year strong.
Attending school consistently also helps students build valuable habits such as responsibility, perseverance, and daily routines that support success both in and out of the classroom.
If your child needs to miss school, please remember to report the absence. Full-day absences can be reported in ParentVUE. Families may also report absences by calling the school attendance line or emailing the school-designated attendance address.
If your child is experiencing challenges that are affecting attendance, we are here to help. Please contact your child’s school so staff can partner with you to provide support and resources. Learn more about attendance resources.
