All students have taken their SOL for reading in grades 3-6, and some have began testing for math. The calendar is below. Please know that for SOL scores will be visible in SIS ParentVUE, StudentVUE, and TeacherVUE every Wednesday and Friday.

Also, if you are interested in engaging in the 26-27 SY class placement process, please take some time to provide your input for your student using this link. Our teachers drive the class placement process, and we trust their judgement and expertise when creating class placements. When completing the form, please share the qualities of a teacher and classroom environment that would best meet your child’s needs.

Lastly, the final 3-hour early release is next week, May 20. Enjoy your weekend!

Sincerely,

Janice Dalton, Principal

Kindergarten Registration: It’s as Easy as 1-2-3…

There’s an easy five-step process for parents wanting to register their child for kindergarten:

  1. Determine eligibility.
  2. Identify your local school.
  3. Gather documents.
  4. Fill out forms.
  5. Schedule an appointment.

After the appointment at the school the student and one caregiver must be present. Read more about the registration process. For more information, please email/call our student information assistant/registrar, Sarah Orlick at 703-551-5303.

Parents may register their children online for kindergarten through 12th grade. Learn how to begin the online registration process. When registering, parents will create or log in to an existing SIS ParentVUE account.

FCPS Pre-K and Early Head Start Programs

FCPS Pre-K and Early Head Start programs provide a high-quality early learning experience for qualifying children with economic and educational risk factors, ages 6 weeks to 4 years, living in Fairfax County.

  • Pre-K prioritizes 4-year-old applicants but also accepts applications for children who will be 3 years old by September 30 of the same year.
  • Early Head Start is located at three elementary schools — Clearview, Crestwood, and Dogwood — and accepts applications from pregnancy to 2 years old.

Laurel Hill will be opening a Pre-K classroom this fall!  Families are encouraged to apply as soon as possible; space is limited and provided based on need, not first-come, first-served. Click Here for the informational flyer.

Applications are accepted online, by email, by mail, or in person at our office at 7423 Camp Alger Avenue, Falls Church, Virginia 22042.

If you have a question about the application process or status, please call 703-208-7900 (English) or 703-208-7901 (Spanish).

Elementary Institute for the Arts (E-IFTA) is a weekly fine and performing arts camp for students in grades K-5 who love to sing, dance, act, perform, make, and create. New Cell Phone Policy

New Cellphone Policy Starts July 1

On Thursday, May 7, the Fairfax County School Board approved changes to the FCPS Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R). The approved changes include updated guidance for cellphone possession and use, to align the FCPS cellphone policy with Senate Bill 108. This new Virginia law goes into effect on July 1 and states that all schools in the Commonwealth must follow a “bell-to-bell” phone-free policy.

This means that starting July 1, 2026, across all grade levels at FCPS, student cellphones, phone accessories, and all smart devices (including watches that serve a dual purpose, such as smart watches, as well as earbuds, headsets, smart glasses, and other other items connected to the internet) must be off and personally stored (i.e., put away in backpacks) for the duration of the school day — thus, no cellphones from bell to bell.
