🐾Woodlawn Pause, Our Weekly Mindfulness Video

Enjoy this week’s Woodlawn Pause called BED Breaths.

We have combined the practices from the alphabet letters to form the word B-E-D.  The BED practices are Butterfly Breath, Elevator Breath and Dolphin Breath.

Moving our bodies in different ways as we breathe can help us to expand and open our energy.  As they get our energy moving, they also offer time to focus and practice slowing down.

💻 Urgent: Missing Laptops and Chargers

We are currently missing dozens of school-issued chargers, which are vital for student use to complete this year and for use next school year.

How you can help:

  • Check your home: Please ensure your child (Grades 1–6) has returned their school-assigned laptop and charger to school.

  • Return missing items: If you find a charger at home, please send it back with your student immediately.

  • Replacement responsibility: Families are responsible for replacing lost or damaged equipment. If your child’s charger is lost, please visit our  Technology Page  (woodlawnes.fcps.edu/technology) for specifications and a convenient Amazon purchase link.

We will be contacting families of students with missing equipment over the coming month. Thank you for helping us keep our students powered up and ready to learn!

☀️ Summer Learning Opportunities

FCPS is offering several summer programs for identified students. These programs will be held at Riverside Elementary School.

Please Note: These programs are not open to the general public and are only available to eligible students who have been specifically invited.

Next Steps for Invited Families:

  • Eligibility: Parents of eligible students have already been contacted via TalkingPoints, and paper invitation packets were sent home.

  • Action Required: To secure your child’s spot, you must complete and return the registration forms as soon as possible.

  • Deadline: All forms must be returned by May 8.

  • Limited Space: Seats are limited and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Questions? If you have questions about eligibility—or if you believe your child may be eligible but you do not use TalkingPoints—please contact Erin Murtagh at esmurtagh@fcps.edu.

📝 Spring testing season is here! 📅

Be sure to put testing dates on your family calendar so you don't forget.

📅 Upcoming Testing Dates:

  • May 12: Math SOL (Grades 3 - 6)

  • May 14: MAP Math Assessment (Grades 1 - 2)

Here are some ways to prepare before a test:

  • Remind your child to get a good night's rest.
  • Make sure your child has a healthy breakfast.
  • Avoid scheduling appointments that would take your child out of school on a testing day.
  • Remind your child that electronic devices are not allowed in testing, unless required by 504 or IEP.

🐾💙Wildcat Wednesdays💛🐾
